It makes sense. Plenty of talented writers and rappers that can't be promoted as acts. So instead of letting that talent go to waste, put them on staff as ghostwriter and lyric coach.....for an act that has big potential. Everybody benefits.
Now, this goes against what we grew up believing about the artform, but once big money got involved, even rap labels would take the Motown assembly line approach to promoting acts and singles.
That Drake shyt about writing rooms, and writers is just what it is......he's a cash cow....so his team will assemble/construct the best singles.
