Apliiq is based out of Los Angeles and basically their a store that makes custom cut and sew garments using patchwork. The patchwork can be set to custom and they have 100s of designs to choose from.

They allow shop participants to sell their merchandise on their behalf and make commission. Anybody can go on apliiq.com and make their own custom garments to buy or sell.

It's like spreadshirt only it's more involved.

If anyone can go on Apliq and make their own garments why would they need to go through you?

I am assuming you put your work up here, so we can critique it. Aint nobody gonna wear a shirt that says "colored" breh, so you need to scrap that one. What is with the number 84? Is that the year you were born? Lol. I think the shirts with the black icons are offensive and disrespectful imo. What the fukk does Class of 84 even mean?

You can set up your own and do the same thing and share designs and sell designs as well. That's what I like about it. It's a creative community and I was never trying to claim this as my own thing. Not everyone on apliiq is making the same thing so everything that's coming out while similar is some sense is different. These are just my designs I crafted under the Bones Of Houdini name (my blog from which the line is based on). Nothing more, nothing less. For the people who like the Bones Of Houdini tumblr, spreadshirt brand/line, boardpusher line, who want to have that trifecta of the personal touch/style/aesthetic I provide to those platforms.

It's just me adding my creative touches to their items and if people like it and want a piece of it...cool. I was never acting like this was my "thing" where I make 100% profit off of it, and I just make commission off it.

To answer you're question, this is more geared towards the people who are familiar with The Bones Of Houdini tumblr. It's a curated custom collection.

I hope this answers your question. Take care.

Yes, I was born in 1984. So that's where the class of 84 comes from.
If you are familiar with the George Orwell novel "1984" I use it as a reference point in general.

It's a celebration of the things I grew up on. Hip-hop, skateboarding, punk rock, art, graffiti, cyberpunk/computer culture, music, electronica, etc.

The "colored" shirt is designed to take a negative connotation towards black people and minorities in a time that most people would like to forget and flip it as a term of pride. To be proud of being "colored". To not let the majority dictate how we as black people (or people in general) should view themselves and personal beauty/intelligence/etc. Cause at the end of the day, if you really think about it. black white brown yellow...we all colored so there you go with that. No one sees the world in black in white. Really anybody can wear that, but it's all up to how the viewer sees the item.

Keep in mind "colored" the word in itself is not derogatory or offensive but only in context.

The reason I did a black history month pack wasn't necessarily to capitalize off it because as a black man myself I find my qualms with it, but as a means to educate people through fashion about great people that wouldn't of necessarily gotten the proper shine on any other occassion. I find many of these black history month "packs" and "tributes" kind of lacking because if it isn't done respectfully it can come off the wrong way. I wanted to put the people I looked up to, the people that inspire me, the people that actually went through and made sacrifices for the future generations in an artistic interpretation that reflects my personal tastes.

At the end of the day, what I do is art. Might not be the best or most fitting example of it, but I try to create a relationship visually between the viewer and myself in a way that sets me apart from the rest.

I never made these items with the intent for mass production or mass appeal. I understand people will not like some of the stuff I do, but I have character and integrity in my art as well as foresight so I'll continue forth with it. Not everything I do is going to be for everyone and not everything I say people will enjoy. But I stand up to and own up to all my output good or bad and am willing to explain everything in full depth.

Take care.

:comeon::comeon:Come on breh, Malcolm X and Angela Davis would not have gotten shine if they weren't on your t-shirt? Let us keep it 100, you selling a 22 dollar t-shirt with their images, so you can profit off of it.

I will say the Rosie T-shirt is kind of cool, but that is something a girl would wear. You need to clean her up a bit, put more of an outline, her elbow is blending into her other arm.

They're some of my favorite people and I put them on a t-shirt cause those pictures of them are awesome.

They get their shine, but they deserve more for the history and foundation of thought and progressivism that they provided.

So, yeah, its a tribute, but my tribute to those great people.

I mean, i will make a profit off of it...but I'll keep it 100% with you man...I was kind of getting sick and tired of all of these black history month collections that weren't coming from black people or were just exploited for a quick buck by non-blacks. I'm trying to stress black business, black ownership, and black entrepenurialism. It just seems weird to see the images of black people and black innovators on the items of clothing brands that aren't black owned obviously outweighing the output from black owned and operated brands. Where they profit more from us than us.

I noticed that alot in streetwear in the past couple. I would like to encourage more black and brown folk to get into that entrepenurial spirit and create things that are unique and are influential.
