Snoop Dogg Gives Voice to Black Families He Says Ronald Reagan Devastated
Snoop Dogg was a guest and keynote speaker at this year’s SXSW Music Festival at the Austin Convention center. He follows in the steps of music celebrities like Lady Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, Quincy Jones and Lou Reed, but held the distinction of being the only hip-hop artist to be invited to one of the most prominent events in the entertainment industry.

The main focus of Snoop’s speech was about how everyday life was instantly and dramatically changed in the 80s when drugs and violence were at their height in most inner-cities across the States, but more prominently in those on the West Coast.

Snoop used the platform to announce his new project, an HBO drama being developed with the participation of director Allen Hughes and writer Rodney Barnes about how a single family’s life was turned upside down after Ronald Reagan took office.

Snoop explained how much life changed after Reagan was elected:

“Early in the ’70s and toward the latter part of the ’70s everything was beautiful because we had ways to have fun and communicate and those who were underprivileged — the low economic side of life — the government would provide for us, which helped us get by. It was a society and we all needed it and we all had it and we all helped each other. Then when Reaganomics kicked in, certain things were taken away, after-school programs and things of that nature. Guns and drugs were shipped into the neighborhood. So it was a shift of having fun and playing football to selling drugs and shooting at each other. To me it was a system that was designed, because when the Reaganomics era began, that’s when this began.”

Snoop, who comes from those same neighborhoods of East L.A., may be a multimillionaire with millions of records sold today, but there are countless others who grew up with him and didn’t make it out. This project, he said, was his way of giving voice to those that were less fortunate that him.

He continues to give back to society with projects like Trap Flix, a site where urban filmmakers without financial backing can realize their dreams. His Snoop Youth Football League is still going strong after 11 seasons.

Ronald Reagan was a white supremacist POS. He's roasting in hell right along with Hitler and Stalin. This POS straight up fukked the black community. All our civil rights progress for nothing thanks to this cracker. He also supported Apartheid in Africa too.
