I really liked the movie.

I don't need a TV show version of it, regardless of network, premium, VOD, or standard.

Take the themes, the ideas, and the feeling, create a new IP.

A TV series version of the sci-fi thrillerSnowpiercer just scored a pilot order at TNT.

The post-apocalyptic look at class warfare on a futuristic train has been ordered from writer-producers Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), Marty Adelstein (Prison Break), and Becky Clements (Last Man Standing). Also all aboard: The producers of the original 2013 South Korean film (which, in turn, was based on a French graphic novel= comicbook ), Bong Joon Ho, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun, and Dooho Choi. Ed Harris, Chris Evans, Octavia Spencer, and Tilda Swinton were among the cult movie’s list of high-profile stars.

The series is set seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, and “the remnants of humanity inhabit a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe where issues of class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival are questioned.”

“Snowpiercer has one of the most original concepts to hit the screen in the last decade, and it’s one that offers numerous opportunities for deeper exploration in a series format,” said Sarah Aubrey, executive vice president of original programming for TNT. “We look forward to expanding TNT’s relationship with Tomorrow Studios and their take on a world where humanity is pushed to the extreme.”

Of course, one can’t help but hear about this concept and wonder: Are we going to want to watch a series that entirely – or nearly entirely, or at least mostly – takes place on a train? The film got a bit claustrophobic after a couple hours, but what about a TV series that runs for, say, 13 hours in its first season alone?
