I agree with everything here breh I used to love those OAKTOWN 357 videos too. I remember watching RUN DMC talking about Hammer on Arsenio with my older cousins and not understanding the problem

Dont think ive ever seen a rapper get more hate from his peers than Hammer. Closest is probably 50,but 50 caused alot of the hate. So off top I can really only think of Soulja Boy. He got it from old heads. Nothing but support and crickets when Benzino dropped those racist tapes though. Eminem stans really could call Eminem the goat based on that alone:martin:

Can any Bay Area dudes help me out…some of the dancing in this video looks like the Thizz stuff that was made out there. Aren’t these dudes from the bay and did they low key influence the thizz movement?

This was at the end of his career when he changed up to fit in.

Yea because he was trying to sell records

he did his corny music to sell records too, it wasn't about being a gangsta

Hip Hop was in the stage where lyricism was taking serious and artist wanted hip hop to be respected as an art form not just some silly dance music, that's why Hammer was getting shytting on by all artist, Redman shytted on him too, everybody shytted on him, because he was wack but selling the most records

and was literally the biggest rapper out but didn't represent what hip hop was at the time, that's where the backlash came from
