His melodies will carry him. I wouldn't call him trash lyrically, but he definitely ain't saying shyt. His style would actually be dope, if we hadn't heard it before from Dej Loaf. I don't even knock him for that, because the era of hip hop that he's coming up in, doesn't care too much about originality.
