White people didn't just "put a new name on something", they completely took over this land mass and revamped everything going on here. White people are the first Americans, therefore they are default and don't require by-names

If Chinese people murdered everyone and changed the name of this landmass to New China, from that point they are indigenous to New China, not to the land mass itself.
