i pay $35 for gym fees and $35 for training

I go in and do warm up and then bag work
And then at the end I go get the trainer and sometimes I have to wait a while and I get to do pax work

I get that I’m older (29) so I’m not an investment and I read that’s how things normally work in a gym

I been here for a month and I’m wondering if I should stay for another 2 and see how things pan out

Or just go to the BJJ gym by my house where they have kickboxing and BJJ

I just really like punching tho and I wanted to learn footwork

Go BJJ kickboxing. More brotherhood. It takes boxers longer to warm up to people

Boxing gyms tend to reserve the real training for people who are actually getting in the ring and fighting. If you are working a bag or other devices in the boxing gym you should have some kind of regiment to do on each one if you don't you aren't getting properly trained

Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing you will get a set of techniques to use every time you train

What’s your fitness base? Most boxing coaches, instructors etc aren’t all that interested in trying to spend their time on someone who doesn’t look like their gonna progress.

Boxing gyms can definitely be intimidating and cliquey, but the best advice is to stick at it and tell the coaches exactly what you just said above. 8/10 someone will want to help someone who gives their heart to it. If you demonstratively indicate that you’re willing to train your ass off and tell the coaches you want to get good, then they’ll follow suit.

I started running at the beginning of this month and I definitely noticed progress with endurance

I’m definitely not going to bring it up because I feel like that’s the wrong way to approach it

Yeah, don’t breh. You don’t want that, “Iight, I’ll get you some sparring if you want to be trained” type work.

Just come to the light. We embrace knowledge and learning. You can ask anyone in the mat anything and they'll help in this jiujitsu. If you go heavy kickboxing and light BJJ or vice versa you will benefit more overall then trying to beg someone to show you combinations and teaching boxing theory in boxing class. Those coaches don't empower the fighters to be coaches to each other. everyone wants to win over their training partners not realizing steel sharoens steel, holla..

Getting knocked out isn't something you wanna high 5 someone for whereas in Jiu-Jitsu a nice submission can be inspiring and give u a new piece of the game. The decision is obvious, Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu.

$35 a session on top of $35/mo?

Like others said, many gyms won't looks at you for the first 3 months because it takes dedication to box. The best trainer at my gym didn't start advising me until about month 3. Most people drop so I don't blame them.

Keep coming consistently and you'll see the results. How's your fitness?
