How Mac Miller Boosted his Youtube and Became Famous...
Interview with Roy Hubbs about Mac Miller's Youtube Boosting

here is the full interview

this kid was a millionaire from myspace fake plays at 17...here is the part about mac miller...

KJ.What did you do with Mac Miller?

Well nothing with Mac Miller, but I did boost his videos. It was right as youtube was starting to get big, or actually right after it got big. I guess Mac Miller was going by another name, Easy Mac I think. So I get a random email from a guy with TreeJTV. He said he got my email from searching and he wanted a video to be promoted. He said he wanted over a million views in one day. I was kind of laughing to myself, and I sent him back the a short end number. I could have got a lot more, but I didn’t really think that they would pay.

KJ.Can you disclose how much?

Sure why not, I said $9,999.99 just as a joke number really. He replied a day later with an ok, let’s move email, and he asked for my bank wire transaction. He didn’t ask for any type of trial period, he didn’t put half into my account, they loaded in the money and emailed me that the video would be up in a week. I could tell right away that this was going to be serious, and it was. I did his next 3 videos and then I never spoke to those guys again. I actually didn’t raise or drop the price, they paid the same price for all 4 videos. Then I see this same kid, Mac Miller, he debuts at number one on the Billboard Charts and now he has a TV show on MTV. Crazy.

KJ. How much do you think you helped Mac Miller with his career?

Personally, I take about 95% of the credit. I haven’t really ever liked the guy as a rapper or singer or whatever but they really put a lot of time and effort and money into making and promoting those videos. But at the end of the day, I think there is a ton of people who are probably better artistically and have just as good if not better videos that don’t make it. They had the budget, the money was no problem. What happened was, when the videos hit 100,000 views in that first day, I only did 100k because I thought they would get deleted from youtube. It then hit the main page of youtube, then it hit a bunch of other outlets, I told them that I was going slow, I could tell they were happy. It was a crazy effect. It was like everybody online was saying, did you see this kid Mac Miller’s new video it has 250,000 views in four days. Then it started to get real hits cause everybody was wondering who it was. The comments were crazy on the first video. I don’t care about accolades or anything, but I am pretty sure that my youtube system really helped out that kid. People were really going to his videos just because he was getting so many views. They probably found somebody cheaper for his next video because I know one of his videos was at 60 million or something.

Industry plants :blessed:

not $10,000 tho..I would say mac miller deserves his fraudulent fame more than any other off-the-internet signed rapper for having to spend that much on each of those videos.

He was signed to a indie from the jump. Thats what indies do. It was Rostrum puttin up the bread(Which was slight work thanks to their 09/10 Wiz Khalifa come up). Not Mac. It wasnt like Mac was pump fakin that he was some white teenager in his mommas basement coming up with these songs and making a homegrown movement.

I find it funny how we in 2014 and people still cant see the gas. The labels buys these artists views and followers. From Eminem to Kanye to Chief Keef.

Even the beloved internet hero Kendrick Lamar had TDE buying him fake views when he was on the come up. Views dont matter tho. Mac was still able to amass a fanbase to come out to the shows and buy the CDs. Thats all that matters in the end. You can say the same for Kendrick as well.

lol @ taking 95% of the credit.

A lot of people pay for boosted youtube video stats or did, before they really cracked down. A lot of those guys with tons of hits did NOTHING, why? Their music just wasn't that good.

Not a huge fan of Mac Miller really but people like his music so it's more than just paying some guy some stacks for hits.
