Two things:
1.) Your real world sounds like a sad, desolate, disconnected place
2.) If not Macklemore than who?
(1) Maybe I am just round professionals who don't have time for childish hip hop games...:lolbron:

(2) Like the first few posters asserted...Nobody did...Nobody really made any relevant music i.e. no rapper made music that was so powerful it shook people outside their dedicated fan base...In fact, it is getting harder and harder for rappers to achieve this...

Where you live at, are people waking, doing their thing, and relaxing after a long day at work, with Macklemore as the soundtrack to their lives...? I am just asking, because I am not hearing any Macklemore where I am at...The GTA and surrounding cities...

Are we going to say every rapper that released a "viral video" "ran hip hop"...?

If Macklemore really did run hip hop, then hip hop is becoming more irrelevant by the year...

Same love nevr got radio play on the rap stations.

:stopitslime:

First off it did.

Second, "Thrift Shop" and "Can't Hold us" got a TON of play.

Look, I'm not a fan but to act like he's not a candidate for runnin isht this year is crazy.

1.) lol. I respect your troll on that one. Cuz I'm a professional too.
2.) I live in NY and trust they be playing Macklemore.

Thrift Shop went double plat. First rap group ever to have first two singles hit #1. People all of ages ran these songs into the ground. They won a BET Award. :wow:

I wouldn't say Macklemore...

When people say "ran this sh+t," to me it means whether you like it or not, that person's image will be in your life...You will hear it on radio, television, internet, shopping malls, everywhere...

For example, when Adele released "rolling in the deep," that song was EVERYWHERE...You couldn't avoid it...To me that's a great example of "ran this sh+t"...

I still have to even hear 1 Macklemore song...I only hear about this dude on the internet (and it's not that often either)...He is irrelevant in my real world...

there is no way you havent heard this song anywhere you have been?

if so you are amish

(1) This is exactly why I am saying you can't really say Macklemore "ran hip hop"...It only seems that way if you have been interested in his career, and you have made the effort to look him up...

(2) I am rocking with GBE/OTF/600 heavy...That's why I know RondoNumbaNine songs and not Macklemore...

(3) I DON'T listen to FM radio...I listen to NewsTalk1010...But even though I only listen to NewsTalk1010, I was exposed to Adele and "Rolling In The Deep" that song was playing on NewsTalk1010, in the malls, in the clubs, at the red light on my way to work somebody would have that song playing...

The song was EVERYWHERE, to the point that even a guy like me who isn't into pop/mainstream music was exposed to it, and I knew the name of the song was "Rolling In The Deep" and it was performed by Adele...

This is why I am giving Adele as an example...To me that is the definition of "ran shiit"...It doesn't matter if you are only into heavy metal, jazz or whatever, when an artists is running shiit, you will KNOW about it, whether you like it or not...

Another example is Psy with "gangnam style"...You couldn't avoid that song...

Maybe I heard that Macklemore song somewhere, but it didn't grab my attention, so I can't really say dude "ran hip hop"...

How many serious Macklemore topics were started in the booth...?

How many macklemore BANGERS did we discuss through the year...?

This is the first Macklemore discussion I am seeing in the Coli...

I say it's a tie between Drake and Macklemore. Drake dropped another good almost great album and Macklemore almost ruled the mainstream this year.

this was easily Drake's year. I don't really see how anyone could say otherwise. Killed every feature he was on (which was a lot of them), toured, and dropped a dope album.
