Do you think there is too much of it going on?
Or do we need to be more politically correct to make sure we don't offend anyone?

I personally hate it. I remember watching the Justin Bieber roast it was all kind of nikka jokes, incest, rape, 9/11 jokes, but CC went :whoa: when it came to Bruce Jenner. I feel like we either going to be completely PC about everything, or not PC about anything at all. The fact that you can make fun of a man who lost his father during 9/11 but not about a man who cuts his dikk off to be a woman is ridiculous and shows the absurdity of the whole PC movement. It's not about what's offensive, it's about power. I'm not homophobic or transphobic, but to think that a group of people have enough clout to make it literally impossible to make fun of them is way too much.

It ain't complicated ................................ but it can be complicated

The 1st Amendment is the greatest think since slice bread, but what are the limits and where are those limits permissible and who sets those limits and how are those limits implemented.
It's a tough thing, because the more you start setting limits on it, the less rights you begin to have.

I think now and days, its freedom of speech........unless whoever you're talkin about has enough clout within their agenda to silence you.

Was just talking to a friend about this the other day.

Can you explain the backlash against being PC?

It's limiting our own freedom in a sense. A lot of the popular TV shows in the 90's would have never made it in this era. They would have been cancelled or the TV executives wouldn't give the show the green light to air.

I think there is a time and place for political correctness. Like that woman who worked in HR and said she was going to get AIDS for going to Africa. She NEEDS to be politically correct because that's her fukking job. She absolutely deserved to be fired. But as far as Comedians, they should be allowed to make fun of whatever they want. And political correctness makes us pick and choose what we are going to be offended by. You can make fun of this, and this, and this, but not this.

I remember SNL did all kinds of Cosby jokes(mind you rape, is one of those things that has always been wrong to make fun of, but not in his case). Then they did an ISIS sketch and received a huge backlash for it. That to me is a perfect example of people choosing what they are going to be offended by. I just believe there shouldn't be a grey area as far as what is ok to make fun of and what isn't

Overstated issue.

Political correctness can be taken too far, but a lot of the people what complain about it are just a$$holes who don't want to behave like adults and are mad they can't insult people and not be called out.

Again.......what we think is just expressing our opinion is insulting to someone else, and likely vice versa. So imagine somebody is saying that about an opinion/perspective you have. It's a tightrope.

I want everyone to have their free speech, cause at some point, some one could strip me of my free speech. However, I'm human and if I see something that is outright insulting and racist I'm not going to pleased :francis:.... to say the least. However, tension doesn't always mean battle, we have to pick what is worth time, money, energy, and pride to to turn into a social media or real life bonanza.

I just think we have to be careful with this thing. Furthermore, recognize, there are agendas that like to piggyback issues and stir them up for their own goals. :leostare:

PC culture is a by-product of the internet age and the majority of the victims probably deserve it.

it could actually be more useful than attempting to offend just to get a rise out of people...

We're living in a more open and accepting society

A lot of people don't like being told that their opinions are unpopular.

However, no one's right to speech is being taken away.

It's a slippery slope.
For example, I don't think Muslim extremist should be murdering people for making fun of the Prophet Muhammad, but on the other hand, why the fukk did that event in Texas have a "Draw Muhammad" contest other than to piss people off? It's not you attempting to be fun, its just you being an a$$hole.
