That's true but I can be playing while the install/patches are installing.
Who told you you can play the game while the disc is installing? You can play offline while certain patches install, but for the initial game install you have to wait it out. It's been that way for years on all platforms.

on PS4 you can play games while it''s installing. There's even a "when playable' progress bar. Most games run within seconds/minutes when you pop it in while the game installs in the background. On XB1 it pretty much has you waiting

Nope. Same happens on X1. The game becomes playable while it's still installing.

Xbox does the same thing. In my experience it depends on the game though. The point is, in 2016 you aren't going to dodge installs which is what breh was complaining about. It doesn't even really bother me. I've never NOT had something else to do. If a game has to install or update I either play something else in the meantime, or put an episode on.

My actual complaint was more along the lines of having to download a raw 54GB image of a game where in 2016 I should have been able to download a compressed image where my game key is used as the hash to extract/decompress that image.

I'm a day 1 PS4 owner so this has been a complaint of mine for a while. Considering MS' foothold in the tech world I would have imagined they'd of all people would have a better solution for digital download content before anyone. Sure XBox Live appears to have better CDN throughput than PSN but that's no excuse for me downloading raw images in this day and age.
