Its for some type of canvas for a law enforcement job, but there are a few catches. If I get the job, I’d have to cut my hair(been growing it since August ‘17, and I stay be getting compliments on it :wow:) and I’d likely have to move away from NYC.

I’m making decent money($44k+ with annual raises) now doing what I do now, but my father is really pushing me to get into law enforcement. Both of my parents did/currently work in the public sector, so they more or less want me to be them, but I’m tryna invest what money I have to live off investments ASAP.

I know it’s a long ass post, but thoughts?

Do what’s in your heart, no homo.

But for real, only take the law enforcement gig if that’s what you wanna do. Your parents probably just want a secure stable life for you and that worked for them, so they are pushing that. Nothing wrong with that, as they are doing what parents do, but this is your life and you have to live it for yourself. I have a friend who was in a similar position some years back. His dad was an EMT and was really pushing him to get this firefighter job cause he had connects in the fire department. Well he did that not really wanting to, but he passed recruit school and made it. He quit in 2 years. Now he’s doing something he loves working for a professional sports team.

If you have a plan for being an investor, I say go for it. Most people are not able to avoid working for someone. Seems like you still young, so even if you lose all your money and fail, you can recover. You will reach a point in your life where you have to start taking the “safe” decisions, so go for it now while you have more room for error

maaaaaaan it would take a lot for me to cut my locs :francis: especially for someone or something outside of myself. that shyt just dont sit right with me

that being said, if you think you'll cut it anyway within the next 3 years, might as well do it and take the job :yeshrug:
dont wanna be sitting around in a year from now like "damn i turned down the offer and ended up cutting my hair anyways" :mjcry:

Unless it's a religious thing, is cutting your hair that big of a deal for you to give up a possible $15,000 pay bump? Would you be allowed to regrow it after you got the job?

Getting out of NYC doesn't seem like a negative either breh. :mjpls:

To tell you the truth, I ain’t really stressing over money rn. I have no debt and have a lot saved up. My main concern, is figuring out how I flip the money I have into investments that’ll pay me a living wage.

I couldn’t regrow it after I take the job, I’m supposed to be clean shaven. It’s not a religious thing, I just love having long hair. Plus, I was never allowed to grow my hair out as a child, so it’s a rebellious thing too.

OAN, whichever one pays more, and is what you truly want to do, I would go for it....

I wasn't trying to shyt on breh, I just hear about how high NYC living is often

OP, if you think you can go away and flip it into something with equal pay when you come back, I would say go for it. I'm going through something similar right now. Sometimes you just need experience to get the ball rolling
