This track came up while I was going through some old mixtape heat and I forgot how nasty this shyt was:dwillhuh:

He even complimented Nas while Tyra Banks caught strays in the same verse:mindblown:

"I'm Trump-tied:mjpls:"
"I'm Trump-like:mjpls:"

"I'm on my way to a Billi, I play my cards nice:whew:"

"Nikkas like Hov you sound too rich:bryan:"

"I'm like OHHH aint that about a bytch:banderas:"

"Ain't that what we here for? Therefore, I sound like I'm 'posed to sound. Meet me at the Clearport:khaledsmart:"

As big as the single was I don't remember when the diss dropped. I know Jimmy had to feel some type of way getting destroyed on his biggest song:picard:

I remember Jay actually performed this diss at a show too.

Jim Jones remixed the diss and was talking a BUNCH of shyt on the adlibs. It was pretty funny

:laff:

Jay fans trying to rewrite history yet again:mjlol:

The streets took the diss as a compliment track, as Jimmy did, as jayz ain't acknowledge cam in that same light worth dissing...Kind of them both having subtle cam ego digs with their back n forth

This blatant publicity stunt came days before Kingdom come officially released but a week and change after the KC leak

How is this a Jim diss and not a Cam diss?

Nah, Jimmy hijacked this shyt and made it the official remix, cooking Hov in the adlibs.

I remember that vividly:mjlol:

Jay was kinda weak in this battle...where he really got Dipset outta here was that Angie interview where he casually cooked Jimmy for making that Na Na Na Na song

Y'all serious with the Jim song? That was bad really bad lol

Jay cooked him on his own shyt just like he did to buddens, only difference is budden replied with some fire

I'll try to be as far and honest here as possible

Jay LYRICALLY destroyed Jim...but Jim was never really known for lyrics...or as a battle emcee. It's like Papoose going against Uncle Murda or Fat Joe...even Jay himself said he would "look like a bully" for dissing Jim....years after this. People (including 50) have this logic that by rapping over another artists' song that you are conceding that their song is hot. I don't think it's always the case....but ballin was a huge hit.

I remember people saying at the time that this song had felt more passionate than anything on the actual Jay album.

This did not feel as hard as something like Super ugly. It was half hearted.

Jim was undoubtedly funnier and more entertaining than Jay though.

I don’t even remember the bars from this shyt but I remember stanning it back then. It had to have really burned Jay that Jim had a bigger hit than him during his big comeback. Only reason to explain him coming at him so direct when he would only sub Cam.
Not the only reason.

Jim Jones did Alarm. Jay ignored it. Jim also did Kingdom Done with Dame talking on it. Jay then talked about it on Flex. Jay just so happened to be releasing his album at this same time as Jim was releasing his and was dissing Jay.

Had Cam been dissing Jay at the same time or had a big hit he perhaps would have been viewed as the target.

Remember some things

1. Cam was also there for the Rucker incident. He's one of the nikkas getting chased around their own ball games.

2. Jay was dissing Dame for his association with Cam just as much as his with Jim. In a vibe interview with Elliott Wilson years later he said that Dame appearing in the "suck it or not"/"wet wipes" video was the last straw that made a reunion impossible. BTW Jim directed that video.

3. Around the time of "you gotta love it" Cam said that Dame said Jay was looking for the Rucker Park footage and even Catholic school pictures of Jim. This was before Lil Cease showed it on Cocaine City.

4. Jay never said Jim's name on here. Keeping up with the Jones' is a common expression as well as Nas' legitimate last name. Same way Jay didn't say Game's name despite saying Game on prelude and the can I live freestyle. "Dig a hole" and "30 something" had references that clearly applied to Cam.
