So i signed my 7 year old up for AYSO soccer.

Get your kid trading with a proper trainer. AYSO and rec league will only teach a kid so much. If the kid is good enough pay to play clubs will be an option. MLS/US Soccer and to an extent European teams are monitoring and watching young American kids play. Mostly that starts when the kid is 12 and older though. FC Dallas is probably the top MLS club team for developing young talent right now. Seattle Sounders also have a very strong youth system. Nice thing about the MLS teams is it's not pay to play.
FC Dallas also has a partnership with Bayer Munich which currently has 3 kids from America trying out to play for their youth program.
