I SAID JAYLEN/TATUM
WERE GOING TO RUN THE
EAST FOR YEARS TO COME SO
IDK WHAT YOURE DOING WITH THIS POST.

BROWN AND TATUM HAVE BEEN
TO 5 ECF AND 2 FINALS.
THATS THE DEFINITION OF CONTENDERS.

HOW ARE YOU COMPARING THE CLIPS
DEBACLE TO THAT?

I just explained to you that health robbed that team of the opportunity to get further in the playoffs throughout Kawhai and Paul's tenure there....if you don't believe that that played a significant role in their playoff suceess because of the one healthy season they had not resulting in a championship (which is silly in itself) you can look to the Celtics who didn't win a championship several seasons before crossing that threshold...obviously one season doesn't define a teams potential....when healthy the Clippers were consistently one of the best teams in their confrence...that's the definition of a contender...go play obtuse with someone else nikka :mjlol:

You right it was a complete shock that the dude that missed basically an entire season to injury, worked a reduced schedule and was still limping the year before, and then had a reduced scheduled worked out had injury issues. Sixers were blinisided by Embiids injury this year too right? :mjlol:
Could not answer my question, reduced to babbling :mjlol: like I said, unserious

Shai hasn't led the Thunder to the NBA Finals yet.

This is a good team but I don't think that trade was so bad.

What made OKC so good was a series of moves.

the Clippers aren't a poverty franchise, at least they haven't been in a while. They've been competent.

The deal did what it was supposed to do for the Clippers. The failures don't necessarily come at the feet of the trade. It comes at the feet of the guy who orchestrated the deal and keeps getting checks to not play.

Until they go deep in the playoffs (going to the finals) or get a ring, they’re a poverty franchise to me. In the past 30 odd years (+/-5), every team out West has either won a ring or went to the Finals except the Pelicans, the Timberwolves, the Kings, the Grizzlies and the Clippers and that’s sad because two of those teams weren’t around 30 years ago.

if the WCF ain't deep in the playoffs to you, then I can't help you.

Not even close

Shai's biggest accomplishment so far is getting the 1 seed and "real" MVP hype only to then not even make it out of the 2nd round with a fully healthy team

SHAI WAS BY FAR THE
BEST PLAYER IN THAT 2ND RD SERIES
(32 8 & 7 ON 51/55/83 SPLITS)
AND THE REAL MVP DIDNT MAKE
IT OUT OF THE 2ND RD EITHER.

THOSE FULLY HEALTHY
TEAMMATES CLEARLY WERENT
READY YET

I think what dudes are not understanding is that trades are based on totality.

You can only really determine whether a franchise altering trade such is this one was successful 5- 10 years down the line.

The Clippers saw the trade as a win? That's cool.
They don't get Kawhi unless they make the trade? That's cool.

The Nets thought they were creating a super team by pairing KG and Pierce with Deron Williams and Joe Johnson and thought they were ready to go beat the Heat. The reason why that trade was such a massive failure was because

1 - how mediocre they were and how badly they flamed out
2 - What the Celtics were able to become

Looking back on the results is what determines that the Nets/Celtics trade was an absolute disaster for the Nets because they absolutely saw that trade as a win when they made it.

What are the results for the Clippers? They traded an MVP and 5 unprotected 1st round picks for a player who was injured for half their playoff runs....and was abysmal the other half. He had one good playoff run and Kawhi went down midway anyway. Together they combined to miss 60% of their games together and predictably didn't accomplish a damn thing. That in itself is an absolute failure. But then when you take into account that PG then turns around and leaves them with nothing in return while year after year the Thunder cash in on their picks bolstering the deepest roster in the league and i don't see how that wasn't an absolute catastrophe of a trade for the Clippers

Meanwhile the player they traded all that for continues to not be able to stay on the floor. But hey at least they got Harden...

Shai is arguably the best player in the NBA and will be for years to come...

YES it was a terrible trade.

And yes it will probably be historic .

I mean the clippers are not bottom feeders and had a a good little run so it depends on what Okc ends up doing

I like how the Thunder turned out rather than what would've become of the Clippers had Kawhi not wanted PG there. Shai fits the whole youth thing they got going over there
