Realignment for football kind of killed Northeast basketball. It also does not help that the NBA has radically transformed its style of play since the Team USA debacle of 2004. Now, when you watch a college game and then turn on an NBA game, it's like, wow, I can't watch college regularly until we get to March Madness. Some of this has to do with getting older I suppose.
I agree with this. The ACC raid on the Big East left massive damage to northeast basketball. Every team except Louisville is trash now.
Conference realignment killed it and just too much turnover year to year as far as players.
I miss the days when we say Juan Dixon and Steve Blake vs Jason Williams Mike Dunleavy for 3 seasons in college they probably played 9/10 games head to head shyt felt like real rivalry.
I would watch any Maryland vs Duke game from 99-08 all day over any current CBB just ain't no intensity and true buildup matchups anymore everyone come and go too fast.
100%
ACC and Big East games were like junior NBA marquee matchups. Iverson vs Ray, Duncan vs Sheed/Stackhouse, Carter/Jamison vs Brand/Battier/Maggette...and these were matchups you could get as many as 3 or 4 times in one season if they met in conference and/or NCAA tourneys
Even if they didn't have the names on the backs, there were mad college jerseys worn in the day because these dudes were stars.
Even the NBA draft doesn't seem like the event it used to be, because nobody really knows who these nikkas are to be getting hyped when their names are announced. If there are a really special couple of players they're gone after you see them play a couple times

The story lines y'all are saying you need to be interested sure sounds a lot like women during the Olympics
The more nba games that became available to watch during the week killed casual college basketball fans.
(in my opinion)

@CrimsonTiderIt's the B1G. All their games are like that, especially WisconsinWisconsin vs Rutgers @ Madison Square Garden
Tied @ 45 at the end of regulation
If my math serves me correctly, that's 1.125 pts per minute for each team.
Defend this bullshyt, college stans
@CrimsonTider
College basketball isn't a great farm system for the NBA it doesn't prepare you for the NBA with the shot clock and zone defenses and spacing in the paint the 3 point line
The game has evolved and college basketball hasn't adjusted like the NBA JIM BOHIEM runs the same 2-3 zone he's been running since he first started
