So it isn't just Rap music that has become routine and formulaic

:ohhh:. I just find it funny when people on here complain about mainstream hiphop going to shyt and hiphop is dead and all that shyt. But the same thing goes on in other genres, if everything's dying then why's there still music? J. Cole just sold in his first week what Nikki Minaj's album might do in it's lifetime. Fab just did 70k in 5 days. We'll see what Joey B4.DA.$$ does in a couple weeks [he might get a nice boost due to the whole Malia Obama thing]

This is news to you breh? Every genre got its routine that makes money. The labels won't change as long as the money keeps coming in.

:dahell:This might be the dumbest shyt I read on here.
Industry sales are going down. In what way does that mean music as a whole would stop?
Something that's literally been around before there was even a way to monetize it.

I worded that paragraph poorly. When I meant dying, I was talking strictly from a creative standpoint. I was using those numbers to refute the idea that mainstream mass consumed pop hiphop isn't taking away from the more lyrically inclined rappers.

lol well that makes more sense.
As far as that's concerned those are washed up 90's nikkas.
What the purchasing power of the 90's wanted is different that what the current generation wants. Deal with it.
We just need to deal with the fact that with so many different options on not only how to enjoy but SUPPORT music we do actually like, what's selling shouldn't even matter from a fan's perspective.
Whatever type of hip-hop(or music in general)you like there is an artist out there that makes it.
You just can't turn MTV on and find it anymore. You gotta look.
