And how many rings have GREAT big men won WITHOUT hall of fame guards???
A case could be made for Duncan with his first 2 rings. Definitely his first

Hakeem did it twice, If Atlanta or Memphis gets the right matchups this season as well. It's MUCH easier to have a realistic shot with a big. I think the warriors are going to leave many people disappointed, I will never count on 2 guards with no real presence down low to lead me to the championship unless you have once in a generation talents like LeBron or Jordan. Not even Kobe had a realistic shot until Pau got to the Lakers for his second run.

Warriors would destroy them in a series

I mean you could also say TD and Hakeem are exceptions to this myth as well. To your point about GS, I agree.

Whats confusing? Have you seen them play lately? That offense is horrendous

Cavs, Spurs, Warriors just took turns taking shyts on them with spacing and shooting

So by the logic of this thread I should expect the Bulls to beat Cleveland in the 2nd round? :leon:

It will be closer than people think. If Cleveland had another elite guard instead of Lebron I would give Chicago a good shot once rose gets back.

Calipari is the most overrated Coach of all time. Got out coached the other night something terrible but the talent made up for it.
lmaooooooooo

so any other coach can take a starting lineup of 5 freshman to the national championship game? OK :russ:

Calipari haters are so fukking irrational it's sad.

The Warriors are not making the finals. You can bet on that.

Lebron and Jordan (which I covered in my thread I linked up top. They are exceptions to this rule. Why are people being so hard headed with these facts :mindblown:

Kobe never won a ring without a HOF pf or C and is considered the second best sg of all time.

So then why aren't Duncan and Hakeem exceptions too? If Bron and Jordan could win without dominant big men, and Duncan and Hakeem could win without dominant guards/wings - surely that must mean both sets of positions are in the same boat? Meaning the rule is - you need a balance of talent throughout the team - a dominant big man needs a dominant guard/wing and a dominant guard/wing needs a dominant big man.

You can't even get your own argument right. SMH.

I think a big part is the shot clock. College allows a longer time to incorporate the bigs. Guards in the pro's have free range to do whatever. No discipline to get the bigs the ball. Ego centric college coaches are to blame also

Hakeem and Duncan are the exceptions because big men have always dominated the league. And while I totally 100% agree with your assessment of overall team talent being the most important thing. Jordan (with Grant and Rodman) and Lebron(Bosh) having fairly above average bigmen at position are good reasons why they were able to win the championships they did.
