So recently my friend decided to join the Coast Gaurd and has asked me to be his workout partner in preparation for Boot Camp so basically I've been coaching him in things like diet and what excercises to do, and a lot of other people I know are starting to go hard in the gym too and I always shoot them some of the same advice and somehow become their go to guy for fitness advice i even went as far to help write up a diet plan with someone who had a thyroid disorder, I can say its something I enjoy doing a lot, right now I'm majoring in Science Education- Chemistry & Physics at community college and was going to transfer to biochemistry when I got to a 4 year because I always thought it was an interesting subject, but I never really had a career plan after that, I was wondering if anybody had experience as dietician that could tell me about their experience/offer any advice

Your success will be determined by your marketing abilities. Most of your leads can be generated online. Have you considered writing a health and wellness blog or column?

Can you cook, doe?

I know a couple RDs, and that healthy yang yang is only as good as it tastes.

Is you 'bout that life??

I was the fitness coordinator for a company and we went through a few dietitians and and nutritionist. Any specific questions? To be honest the best one we had new the least, she was just really awesome people person. If you actually enjoy it go for it but you really have to spend a lot of time advertising yourself and getting clients. If you not a people person like that you are better off being trying to work in hospitals and helping people that way. I have met dietitians who didn't bank as much as 6 month course taking nutritionist who worked in the fitness industry.

Most of the nutrition classes in colleges are outdated

They still think small frequent meals boost the metabolism last time I checked

Honestly, anything you need to know about nutrition, you can read up about on the internet for free

Right now I only know the basics I've never taken a food science class or anything like that, so I don't think my word will be taken that seriously starting off, but I'm only 19 so I have ample time

Not the best people tbh, I also enjoy helping people in there workouts, I was wondering if nutritionist isn't the most lucrative career, if you know of or heard any like field that is, like in fitness or medical.

Basically what @The Nigerian said. I did fitness and nutrition writing online for about 3 years and was pretty successful without too much effort so it does seem lucrative if you are doing it as your bread and butter. You have to like to write a lot (English major here!) and interact though not just the nutrition stuff.

Maybe a youtube channel for "ethnic" nutrition as a nice casual start to get used to it? I find myself looking for videos but so many white girl instructors saying how to lose the butt n thighs or eating tofu crap. There aren't enough people catering to us.

I live in Canada so take it for what it is qualifications might be a bit different but from what I understand if you just want to train and give people diet advice just become a trainer and nutritionist. You have to be passionate about it, and a lot of the success comes from marketing of yourself and interactions with people. Dietitian is different I believe, it opens up a lot more doors but its also 1 or 2 more years of school after your undergrad. This really isn't outdated because you are working with doctors, people with all types of disease rare and common and your opinion and information is important to adding years to their life and no it's not stuff you can just learn on the internet. Dietitian....probably is mainly things you could learn on the internet but if you're good at what you do and a can train you can make a good living. If you become a dietitian you can work in hospitals and side hustle with clients after and before your hours in clinics and hospitals. I do just the training thing while I'm in school and can individually charge clients 600 bucks each per month. But if you want to do that you're going to have to become a people person or else I wouldn't even consider it.

I've always been told I'm an excellent writer especially when it comes to things I'm passionate about, so was it mostly like a side hustle thing or was it steady pay?

So Clinical is the safest bet, I've been readin that there are a lot options working w/ school districts and the military as a dietitian.

I did it as both over the years time. It started as something on the side where I did little articles here and there. I networked and started writing for a small gym/online plans and ghost wrote some e-books. Eventually I contracted other writers and took a cut of there earnings like a finders fee.

So I think just put ourself out there now as a presence and then your formal education will only back everything up that you already built up.
