You want Kendrick to keep it deprived and only cosign with what radio loves... he's trying to keep the feeling we love alive

Basically you would rather Kendrick shake up the perfect chemistry of TPAB for some hits. Uh, no

Look yo, its very simple. I just broke it down to you. If he makes projects like GKMC then he can afford to go 3 years in between records. As I clearly illustrated. that album sustained him for well over a year. With his last project.. he needs to drop something else. You can't roll out multiple singles with this. "I" was a dud no matter how positive it was. Different songs get played a different times of the year. he has no summer time records to put out off that album this summer. He should've dropped this in October or September.

He can make whatever music he wants. He just has to know when to drop it and how to drop it.

he dropped the highest rated album of all time (yeah its finally official)

he doesn't need to drop another album, he can wait 3 or 4 years.
co-sign. the funk audience fukk with this album, fans of soul & funk are in love with it. OP probably thinking we give a fukk about his personal musical tastes but the fact isthis album is a thing of beauty and is being praised for that.

I don't understand how people keep saying the album came and went, when every week there's a 20 plus page thread on it, and at least the people I know, admire and play the album frequently
Its just kendrick haters and drake stans that are trying to create a narrative same way fox news and republicans do. They justbkeep repeating it and over so some people start to believe it.

OP just mad because he doesn't enjoy the highest rated album of all time

like klp said, maybe you don't like it, but theres no denying that its a flawless album, a masterpiece from ndpoint. SO no, he doesn't need to drop another album so soon.

And kdot just confirmed it during an interview, he said: "appreciate this album because the next one is going to be released in a VERY LONG time from now"

No. his new album is the most acclaimed album of all time, he really doesn't need to drop another project :stopitslime:

and btw, I been listneing to it non stop since its release, at least 3 times a day, and its the same for everybody I know in real life :yeshrug:

Yet another Kendrick thread. and I'm almost sure someone will flame me for having an opinion, but here we go:

In general, there are two types of art consumers: casual/fickle and serious/cultural.

Casual/fickle consumers (the youth, others who flirt with the culture but aren't really into it heavy) need constant product or they'll forget about you. The music almost always has low shelf life.

Serious/cultural consumers only want great product. In fact, they prefer you release your projects with considerable gaps in between because it gives time for the quality to breathe. The music almost always has a high/higher shelf life.

Kendrick makes music for casual/young listeners. Always has. So if he waits too long, he'll definitely fall off. Someone new will "take his trap" like Future did T-Pain.

Op is 100% correct. Kendrick is just gonna be another dope rapper. He gave up his shot as one of the goats because of his shytty output of music. This is really a TDE issue tho. They fukkin blew it and blew the chance for west coast lyricism to top the charts. YG ain't even holding down the streets. LA nikkas i swear :snoop:

No disrespect but you're basically regurgitating the same lingo that's been spew 100 times and trying to pass it off as new revelation. He made they type of music he made and it is what it is. It has nothing to do with the fans. All I'm saying is based on they type of records you put out, you can't go that long in between records and expect to be considered in the same breath as Nas or Jay - Z. Their body of work is more expansive. If he decides to drop every 3 or 4 years then so be it. I will check it out but based on the this last project I don't think it would be wise for him to wait that long. I even suggested mixtapes. I mean he did put out mixtapes BEFORE GKMC. I hope he doesn't think he's too good for mixtapes now :mjpls:

And don't give me that "His genius is so expansive he needs years to cook". He himself said he made like 40 or 50 songs for this album. If he wants to hoard it then fine. But me personally, I won't put him in some imaginary upper echelon of dope rappers :mjpls:

And one other thing. The rap game has become so one way that someone like Kenrick Lamar can make a semi social conscious album and get lauded as some ground breaking saint :mjpls:

What made GKMC so great was that it was lyrical AND had songs that could be played in clubs and on radio. That's what made him unique. WHY can't we get both? Is that too much to ask for?

As a fan, I personally wouldn't want him to wait so long..... But I'ma all about Quality > Quantity

I think taking that time after the success of GKMC gave him perspective and provided the material for TPAB

If he can do that collab with Cole and maybe do a group or compilation project with TDE I'll be good with that. I just wouldn't him to be putting out music for the sake of having a "hot song" out there
