Only in the sense that Kendrick has pretty much perfected the art of making what some would consider "message music", while musically keeping it dope and fresh in the context of contemporary rap...other than that, I respect the differences between the two that make them distinct...Lupe's more overtly political for example, and I wouldn't want that to change....just think from a strictly music point of view (content, concepts, stances and everything else notwithstanding), Lupe has pretty much lost his way post-The Cool...and while it's the approach that hurts it some time (he's becoming increasingly preachy and overbearing over time)....it's mainly on musical quality where he's declined IMO....the rock stuff, the wack hooks, the beats...it becomes a situation where I have to force myself to endure all of that to enjoy the message and content...whereas Kendrick's shyt, on the straight up musical merits can match up with any of the hot new shyt out now...plus you have the lyrics, the message, the concepts that shine along with it...instead of despite it

career wise, Kendrick is what I envisioned Krit being.....:to: Kendrick was able to release a major label debut that matched his buzz building material, while LFTU was a letdown...
