Yeah, the history behind this is interesting. Black folks who left the south early on were not happy about the Great Migration/mass exodus of southern sharecroppers coming to their cities, be it LA, San Fran, NY, CHI, etc. They saw them as culturally different and a bad representation. And to be fair, they were less educated and less acculturated. So this was more of a class thing than self-hate/wanting to be white. And low-key, they weren't wrong. The mass influx made white folks panic and create ghettos to control the black population, and middle class black folks got lumped in.

I can almost guarantee those are New Orleans or Louisiana creoles (mixed with French and/or Spanish). I have a lot of them in my family and some of the older ones were…

:mjpls:

Long story short, they didn’t consider themselves black and weren’t legally classified as such until much later.

Beyoncé’s family on her mother’s side are Louisiana Creoles from New Iberia. But she doesn’t seem like that. I know it’s a joke about Jay Z.

The fact her mother married a dark skinned man is very rare. Creoles are definitely on that “moi non noir, monsieur” time. :mjpls:

There was even a legal case by a creole man for being treated like a negro on the train.
Edit: Homer Plessy. They intentionally chose someone mixed/ white passing to be defiant. Same playbook they used with Rosa Parks… are you noticing a pattern here… look at who’s “selected” to be black politicians. :mjpls:

This is a fact. Beyonce is the mother’s family surname. She don’t even check in on her people when its Sugar Cane festival time nor come to a home game at the CajunDome. Her and Hov were made for one another.
