Jacked this thread from Clutch Fans boards.

Is that how you feel when an average shooter on your team takes a contested 3? If not, you may have to take it easy on some of your team's headcase players (I'm looking at you you J.R. Smith-blaspheming-non-believers :pachaha:).

As one of the responses to the tweet mentions: this is without taking into account FTs too and a player shooting a contested 3 is more likely to get fouled than one shooting an open 2.

My Rockets aren't crazy y'all!:blessed:

Last season, the average 3P% was 35.8%, the average FG% for shots in the 10-16ft range was 41.2% & the average FG% on shots between 16ft and the 3pt line was 40.3%.

You get 1.10 pts on average for a 3PT attempt versus 0.82 for 10-16ft & 0.81 for 16<3P range :sas2:

I hate to be the guy but...

That shyt doesn't work in the playoffs though :francis:

Teams close out much harder and key in on shooters, so if you don't have a guy who can consistently get to his spot inside and get easy 2's you're fukked...

That's the huge difference with the W's having KD now.

If you watch the 15-16 GSW-OKC series, OKC came out and shyt all over us on the boards and inside. We didn't shoot particlarly well but OKC had no issue trading 2's for our 3's because they got those shots so easily.

So if you look at last year's playoffs and Finals, GSW became unguardable because not only do you keep the lights out 3 point shooting, but you add KD who can get anywhere on the floor and make a shot and it makes them impossible to defend.

BUT: (:whoa: hear me out breh) I think this is where Chris Paul and his savvy midrange game and pick and roll skills will greatly aid the Rockets.

Because before yall were depending on being lights out shooters and if that wasn't working then give the ball to James and pray.

Now you have someone who can get easy shots and make them at a high enough rate to carry the offense through shooting droughts.

See you in the WCF:salute:

DUDES DONT EVEN WORK
ON THE MID RANGE GAME ANYMORE
SINCE THE LEAGUE IS SO 3 DRIVEN
SO THEY OBVIOUSLY ARENT
KNOCKING DOWN A TON OF OPEN MID RANGE SHOTS.

HOW OFTEN DO WE SEE WIDE OPEN MID RANGE SHOTS?

DUDES LIKE NOAH AND WHITESIDE
GET THOSE SHOTS.

YOU RARELY SEE A PERIMETER PLAYER

GET A WIDE OPEN MID RANGE SHOT
OUTSIDE THE TIME THE SPURS
DECIDED NOT TO GUARD BRON AND WADE IN THE FINALS.

If you can get easy points around the rims, that's much better since it's still the best shot in the game.

Last season, the 3 teams with the highest 3PT% were the Spurs, Cavs & Warriors (all of which were arguably the 3 best teams in the league). If you take the top 5 you have to add teams like the Pacers/Kings which didn't achieve shyt but you could explain that with the low volume of 3s they took compared to the top teams. The best 5 teams in terms of FG% around the rim were GSW, Rockets, Cavs, Clippers & Jazz. 2 of those went to the finals and the rest won 50+ games.

The midrange is less representative of team success compared to that. The 5 teams with the highest FG% from 10-16 were the Raptors, Pistons, Mavs, Blazers & Knicks. Out of those only 2 made the playoffs and only one won 50+ games. And Detroit, NY, Toronto & Dallas all ranked in the top 6 in terms of midrange attempts too.

Philly bouls, Trust the Process
This would need some correction before being taken seriously. You're probably a pretty good shooter to be throwing up contested 3s in comparison to the guys who take a contested or open midrange shot. There's probably a disproportionate amount of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, etc. in that 3PT number that doesn't apply to the midrange number.

I'm not saying it's not true, but more needs to go into it before you can take it seriously.

This is sad...
League goin be all 3s one day...
They goin penalize you for getting your Rip Hamilton on

Why is it sad? You want teams to play less optimal basketball because it fits how you're used to seeing the game played?

... and who is this THEY who will supposedly be penalizing the next Rip Hamilton?

this post is factual but if we added leonard to the pistons, lebron to the mavs and steph and kd to the knicks how many games would those teams win?
