Rex defends penalty-ridden Bills, praises team's 'fight' - NFL.com

The Bills on Sunday shot themselves in the foot over and over again in a sloppy 24-10 loss to theNew York Giants.

The lack of discipline was stunning, with Buffalo flagged an outrageous 17 times for an NFL-leading 57 penalties on the year.

A typically defiant Rex Ryan still praised his squad in defeat, though, saying he was "proud of the way" his Bills performed, per ESPN.com's Mike Rodak.

"Can you play a lot smarter? Absolutely," Ryan said. "But I'll take a team that can fight over a team that won't -- that will sit back and take it -- any day of the week.

"The discipline things? I get it. When you have 17 penalties, that's obviously a sign of lack of discipline," said Ryan, while prodding reporters to "write it the way you want to write it."

Said Ryan: "We can focus on the negatives and all that -- and I get it, that's your guys' job -- but you might not understand the game the way I understand (it) because I've been on the other side. I've been a part of a 20-some-penalty performance by the Ravens, OK? And we went on and we fixed it. We'll fix it here."

Rex won't blame the flags, but his players asked openly after the game if the refs were targeting Buffalo, with defensive tackle Kyle Williams saying that "the reputation is out" and "officials are looking for certain things -- so we have to be choirboys."

No matter how you spin it, the flags were an absolute killer in a home game the Bills needed to keep pace in the AFC East. There's plenty of talent on this roster, but a fringe playoff hopeful like Buffalo isn't built to survive a mountain of mistakes.

A joke of a coach, as per usual, funny though because this used car salesman had those Buffalo fans all whipped up in a frenzy.

Same old Rex, no accountability, no composure, arrogant and completely ignorant.

Now I agree with him I rather take a team that will fight than sit down an take it like couple teams, me thinking of Dolphins.

Rex always be this way he's too player friendly buthis way would work if he had a good offense. I think he's stepping into a good offense.

Jets fans can't really talk yesterday we had a bunch of penalties too but we won so that explains everything. This article wouldn't matter as long as their winning.

Trying to figure out how tomsula went from Dline coach to head coach :mjlol:

It's like the Seinfeld episode when Kramer started showing up in random office to work. When he got fired, he was like "I'm not even supposed to be here":russ:

Tomsula's gonna get canned and he's gonna be like "I'm not even supposed to be here":jawalrus:

This "coaches taking all the blame for losses in press conferences" shyt is really getting played out tho. Rex got all these dudes doing it after bad losses now.

It's not the good kind of fight, this is his problem he pats his team on the back for jackassery.

This is why you get these type of games, no one is ever held accountable, ask Jets players they`ll tell you that. Wilkerson said that was a big difference with Bowles, accountability.

Ryan is a joke, lets not turn this into a shyt onto Tomsula thread either, the guy was set up to fail and wasn't qualified in the first place.

Rex on the other hand is a used car salesmen who got Buffalo bamboozled just like he did NYJ
