Biggie died with the Crown. Jay Z and NaS are guarding the Temple that crown rest in.

Big didn't get dethroned. Nobody took his spot. He was murdered. So the Crown technically is forever with him but as I've said. Jay and NaS battled it out for the KING OF NY title in the early 2000's. They are the heirs. So Kendrick can't even think of getting to the Temple of the Kingdom of New York cause he has to make it through the gates. Which he's not on that level. There have been other popular NY Rappers who reached for the throne. Like Ma$e, Big Pun, DMX, Ja Rule and 50 Cent. But none of them could really keep hold of the throne, it was to much or other drama happen. Jay Z who Biggie co-signed heavily before Death and NaS who battled Big for the Crown of NY in his prime are the rightful Heirs to the New York Crown. Until a new rapper can top them, they are the Gatekeepers.
