I felt like the neighbors did hate them, but I don't think anything was planned, when those people on the street destroyed their security system, I felt the neighbors got together then decided they could purge Ethan Hawke's family.

Why put the neighbors being jealous of the family in the movie if it wasn't important to the plot? Why put the neighbors having a party with a packed driveway and purposely not inviting the family over? Why put that stuff in the movie?


I think the director put it in there to say that the neighbors were plotting and that if it wasn't the crazy sadistic purgers that killed them, it would have been the neighbors. And it all tied up at the end in some sort of message on racial prejudice and stereotypes. Because their son lets some strange black dude into their house in the middle of the Purge but it ended up being this strange black dude that saved their entire family in the end.

I am not watching this dumb ass movie again to dispute you, but you are right, this movie is full of plot holes.

As far as the bolded, I thought it was some social commentary on how even people who are rich hate on people who are even richer.
As far as plot holes, how that homeless nikka just stumble into that nice ass neighborhood? Where the fukk did that teenage daughter go for half the movie? Why the fukk were those cacs obsessed with that one nikka? They wasting time waiting out for that one guy?

Why did the wife let them nikkas go? You just know they are going to plotting to kill her for the next years purge. These are questions just off the top of my head. I am trying to think of a major question I had, when I saw this fukken movie, something about their front door...

This thread reminded me that I've had this on an external since it dropped. 30 Minutes in and I'm already mad as fukk. I literally have a headache right now. I had no fukking clue Dana Brody had a twin brother. He let's the fukking bum in, breaching security in the process. Then the sisters boyfriend finds out he's not about that life, just a dumb cac that needs to announce himself before trying to catch a body. Then the fukking daughter has the nerve to help out the dude who just tried to murk her pops I mean what the fukk.

I had to start skipping through the rest of the movie at this point, only to see more fukkery with some other cacs dropping by to get the black dude. Black dude holding the daughter as a hostage, then the cacs get into the house, get worked, girl kills the main cac, Ethan Hawk dies, neighbors try to pump they chest out, have the tables turned on them, and then some bullshyt about no more killing. I don't remember the last time I've legit gotten angry at a movie.

It's OK to get an abortion. Sometimes you go to purge them early.
