Somalia doesn't have oil. But it likely has natural gas. The US isn't bombing Somalia for natural gas access. Rather, Somalia has a very important geo-strategic location.

In the map above, you can see that Somalia is adjacent to the Arabian peninsula (where restive Yemen and Saudi Arabia lie), East Africa and the Horn of Africa. Moreover, Somaliland/Puntland are on the Gulf Aden which could act as a stranglehold on the Red Sea.
In this map, you'll realize that the Suez Canal is connected to both the Mediterranean and the Red Sea. Whoever controls the Gulf of Aden controls a lot of the shipping to Europe, the Levant, Arabia etc.

Oil tankers that leave the middle east have to pass by the Somali Coast so any disruption in that region can have extremely severe economic repercussions especially with Iran ready/able to cut off the straight of Hormuz which is a major choke point for Saudi Arabian oil if shyt ever pops off. Paragraph no proven reserves yet found. Ethiopians haven't found oil in the Ogaden (similar sediment make up) so I'm skeptical.
Regardless, control of Somalia is attached to global control of the seas. Very strategic
