The way I see it is I shouldn't have to. This should be standard, period. If my 360 can do it, the next gen should be able to. I'm really petty for shyt like this, unless I NEED it, I will ignore it. I mainly use my console for Netflix, hbo and usb anyway. Plus the gaming industry is a joke. I hate if i feel like i'm being conned, even COD gets me upset because I gotta pay for extra map packs

I got the XBOX1 and if i'd like to watch something from my flash drive, i just transfer it to my phone and i stream the content from my phone to the XBOX1 wirelessly, works for me.
Yeah probably trying to reduce piracy...but that's ok there are plenty of Media players on the market that do the same thing-in some cases better than PS3 and Xbox360- and they're not that expensive.

Well sir, they did that because they KNOW what you was doing
BUT, Microsoft doesn't really care that much. They have DLNA support so you can put any movie on your cellphone then stream it to your Xbox One or 360.. no problem
If you PC/Laptop has DLNA it can be used to stream as well
And if those are not options for you, the Xbox One has a windows OS kernel in it so the web browser can stream any movie or TV show. Here, let me show you how to feast on XB1

And instead of indirectly pushing gamers into that trouble, Microsoft indirectly is steering us INTO THE RIGHT DIRECTION
