I have that setup as well, but its more convenient via a console imo.
Because a console acts like a router basically. So I can stream any movie from my PC to any TV a console is connected to
And since most ppl don't have PC's connected to there TV's its more practical via consoles
Real PC heads would rather have there PC hooked up to a monitor.. maybe even rockin 1440p or higher reso

my desk is in my den and I ran a long hdmi from monoprice under the carpet so my tv is technically my second monitor

I use my ps3 to stream videos to my bedroom tv off of the pc using PS3 Media Server

The way I see it is I shouldn't have to. This should be standard, period. If my 360 can do it, the next gen should be able to. I'm really petty for shyt like this, unless I NEED it, I will ignore it. I mainly use my console for Netflix, hbo and usb anyway. Plus the gaming industry is a joke. I hate if i feel like i'm being conned, even COD gets me upset because I gotta pay for extra map packs . These companies are way too greedy.

You shouldnt but its the best option so far. You can stream from computers just as easily.
