What i'm trying to get is how are you solely attributing your family success based off of your Great-Grandmother Haitian background. Your story isn't out of the ordinary from the AA experience past or present.

Just throwing it out there...90% of the Africans I have ever met I have been cool with. BUT the one benefit I had was an upbringing where I was taught about the real Africa and its people and history. My pops helped me learn about almost ever country on the map and I memorized the capitals. Every time I have met an African that seemed stuck up, I asked where they were from (initially they say Africa) then I ask the country (i.e. Mali) and then I ask like, 'oh are you from Bamako'? Works every time. I can't tell you how many fine African chicks got interested after that line

I am not cool with anyone looking down at us but we are part of the problem with ignorant azz ideas about the Motherland. No, mofos don't have elephants in their yards in Nigeria and they aren't all starving. We can bytch and moan about someone else's bigotry but knowing a little bit helps go a long way.
