Yes but the conclusions were stupid
Look at this, the article said just because the TSA agent was black that's why she acted crazy
?????
That TSA agent was probably the sole Black character in the film. The casting was hardly a coincidence.
Hollywood use to trot out one Black character in films to play into cliche stereotyped roles.
They would trot out one Desi character in films to play into cliche stereotyped roles also.
Both cases, the character was there for comic relief by playing into standard Hollywood stereotype. Aggressive overweight Black woman is straight out of old Hollywood playbook
Keep in mind, in response to the OP i'm saying most don't know what the N bomb means.
That does NOT mean i'm saying racism does not exist in India, oh it very much does.
I'm just saying the knowledge of the n word is next to nothing most especially when this was made.
If you read my posts in this thread, I'm mainly talking about cultural colonization. Where the views and stances of whites were exported around the world via media. It was a package deal and the "lullaby" hardly existed in a vacuum. Probably accompanied by Hollywood films, Western advertisements, books, etc that depicted African people in derogatory light.
It happened in British colonies with African majorities, so it stands to reason that it happened in the other parts of the empire. The existence of Blackface and/or racist advertisements in modern times in these former colonies is evidence of that.
Not fully understanding the hatred behind the slurs....N or "k@@fir" is a reasonable point. But it seems that they would be understood to be negative terms.
