Was asked to make this thread so here it is. Basically we had the idea to work with some established artists and collectively put in the funds to make this happen. Spoke to Cole Cash and he was down to do the beat, other producers are welcome to submit their ish too. As will hopefully do a few things like this, plus could remix it too. Since we would all collectively own the work/acapellas we could do what we wanted with it, that goes for MC's here too. So I think people wanted to make this thread so could have a clear discussion about who to pick to work with. So who do you think?

There's numerous options, we have to think what are objectives are.. to get some more exposure, to get good value for money, has to be realistic, and if at all possible somebody we could build with rather than just the collab and that's it (that's not always possible but is in some cases so have to bare that in mind).

K-Rino would be a very good option, I could probably get a good deal with him. He is reasonable, an exceptional artist, is very well respected and connected, being peers with Scarface, Z-Ro, Gangsta N.I.P, Bun B etc. He has songs with over 1.6 million views on youtube. Is a legend in Houston. Have done business with him before and he has a high level of integrity and is trustworthy.

But there's numerous people, Canibus, might be a bit more expensive but obviously is very well known. Has a history of doing quite a lot of features and again has been very cool in my personal dealings with him.

As has Brother Ali, however I'm not sure what the cost would be so would have to ask.

Raekwon, Inspectah Deck... again not sure of the costs, but know people who have worked with them, Wu hav a cult following so it could be good in that sense. But it could potentially price us out unless we're rasing A LOT of cash. And I'm not exactly sure how much will be raised as haven't gauged that from people yet.

I'm willing to put in anywhere between $50 - $200 at least depending on the artist.

KRS-One would be exceptional and get that Hip Hop stamp, but not sure how much the cost would be, but know people who know him so could at least enquire. Infact... actually I better not say that publically lol, but yeah there are some advantages to getting KRS.

Chino XL, quality wise he is a beast and would wreck it. G Rap is dope and the shyt, might cost around 3 g's though, maybe 1.5 possibly if could get a good deal.

What other names? Cormega, AZ, Grandmaster Caz, Tragedy Khadafi, Crooked I, Ras Kass, Papoose, R.A The Rugged Man, Rakim, Chuck D, Percee P, Last Emperor, Saigon.

How about Chris Rivers? He is young and up and coming, which means we could possibly get it now for a decent price but it might DRASTICALLY raise in the future. Plus he is ill as fukk.

Cuban Link, The Outlawz, Mopreme.

Ok that's enough from me lol. Just throwing names out. Who do YOU think?

I respect that you guys wanna go after older respected lyricists but I think we should go with younger less known but on the come up type artists such as Vince Staples, Young Roddy, Le$, Mikey Rocks, Robb Banks, Denzel Curry, CyHi Da Prynce, etc. Guys that it would be a little more beneficial for a younger artist to work with as far as building a fanbase with. Nothing against the older heads, we could work with em' too but you gotta infuse the new sound in there too or you're just hustling backwards.

so, you're trying to pay one of them dudes, to rap over a beat.. :wtf:

To do collabs with us/some of the artists/producers on here yeah. This is something standard that's been going on for years. Poor Righteous Teachers paid KRS 15 g's for Conscious Style.

I get where your coming from, I'm open to suggestions, I even myself mentioned Chris Rivers, he's young/new but at the same time dope that a broad spectrum could fukk with. Also has potential to really blow, I wouldn't be surprised if one day Eminem signs him.

that was also at the time when KRS was hittin his 2nd wave pretty heavy.. 15k wasnt nothing, considering the amount of exposure his name & music was getting back when that dropped..

My boy Jay58 once told me that his dream collabo was Inspectah Deck and that he put in the work to link up with him and Deck heard his music was down to do it for a stack. I was suprised at that number yet my boy said he didnt have the funds at the time. This was 2011 tho.

1. Get one of these new young nikkas. (CyHi Da Prynce or Chris Rivers would be my pick cuz both can spit) I don't really fukk with any other new nikkas like that though. Bibby dope to though.

2. Get a Wu head like (Rae or Deck) just slide them that Iron Triangle Wu Tribute Mixtape. (In my sig) They'll see that the Coli is big fans of them nikkas and would prolly fukk with us and give a good rate or something. Worth a shot.

My only 2 suggestions. :manny:

Yeah, the names I mentioned were merely suggestions anyway, not saying we have to pick them lol. Am open minded. Just droppin someone suggestions, and thinking of people that would be in the 100 ranges instead of 1000's.

Peace.

exactly.. the younger cats is where you wanna start building.. with your catalog/resume, and whatnot before you even start to approach even somewhat established artists..

as i said.. this aint my thing, and folks seem to be set in their ways/direction.. so, my hands are outta this.. good luck on whatever yall do, tho.. :salute:

Chris Rivers I'd be more than happy to choose.

It fits in with the people who want to pick a new artists (personally I don't give a fukk about new or old but whatever lol), it has huge potential for the verse to be worth a lot more in time, he is ILL, he's Pun's son so even the older heads would respect that. And would support him, he's a cool brother.
