Hopefully we can get a neogaf like discussion. The xbox1 gets dissected all day, everyday. Thats cool. We can't really dissect me because nothing is known about me at this point. But whats important is the games and how they play. And in this day and age, most gaming is ONLINE related. Xbox is going hard requiring an always online connection basically so if you in denial about where the future is moving? The rest of the world's electronic companies don't agree and is bring that future to you THIS YEAR (Story Tru)

So as we move forward to a more online orientate universe. ON the xbox side Microsoft went into great detail about how it has 300,000 servers for dedicated gaming, cloud computing/etc. Thats cool and will benefit gamers obviously.
So I am wondering what is sony's plans for online? I'm not even gonna post again in this thread unless asked directly. I just want to be more knowledgeable about how people will game on me (ps4)

Last I heard, PSN was a lost cause and sony would have to create a totally new PSN to even regain control

Does anyone know what they got planned so that doesn't happen again, or will they have dedicated servers for all games like Xbox One will? I wanna know, and I'm sure you do to. I understand some of you have your mind made up already, cool. This thread isn't here to sway opinions, its to find answers. Help me help you help the community!!! :blessed:

as said before i think Sony really could crush the buildings...with a good model. I think the free vanilla online play should remain (and always be) free. But the premium memberships should offer a lot more than just a $10 price cut on certain games. I should offer priority queues in the servers, free games, and the game you buy under premium you should ALWAYS have access to. That really pissed me off to buy a game under PSNPlus only to have my access blocked, thats BS. If the consumer pays an additional price for ANYTHING they should ALWAYS have access to it.

But people should NEVER have to pay to get online to play other people...that is the lifesblood of most games nowadays and to charge for that is a crime imo.

Good question. PSN still has a lot of problems. I wonder what type of upgrades they have planned for next gen.
It has to be a brand new PSN because they can't change the "zero level access" that was leaked.

And all this gen it hasn't been a secret how XBL >>> PSN, so I was really expecting sony to say something. Now that I think about it, maybe they do have something up there sleeves. Because lets be reality, if they did announce a new PSN they would have to talk about the improvements

Doing so would force them to FINALLY talk about what needs to be, improved :ohhh:
Cuz like I said, the biggest scheme this entire gen is sony not telling its consumers that as of October 22, 2012 anyone who uses PSN is at risk.
If that needs to be explained to anyone, just quote or mention a Japanese Brotha :manny:

I used to agree with that sentiment. But XBL has grown because we pay for it. It never went down for a month because we play for it
WE keep getting new features because we pay for it
And now we are getting 300,000 dedicated servers because Microsoft can afford to do things like that because we pay for XBL

If we didn't pay for it, we'd be going into next gen with non dedicated servers, and with these new systems means better graphics which should produce even more lag unless they prepared. They are prepared because we pay for a superior service.
Think of it like Newsgroups. They better than free torrents, but you pay for the reliability and stability and security :blessed:
At least thats why @Rekkapryde would promote newsgroups. Real Gamers feel $4 a month is worth all that
If I was a fanboy, I'd scream how that is bloody murder. I'm about to go hit a $20 cigarette :smoker:

I respectfully disagree, sure XBL has grown because of it, but games are made with the intention of having certain functionality they are advertised as such, to chuck out an additional fee on top of what you pay for the system, the game, and your ISP its basically gouging at its best. If ALL i got was online multi, DLC and access to my TV apps...im set why pay for the premium? I feel like if you want downloadable games, early access, free games, and all that then you have the premium option...when you buy cable they give you the OPTION to have HBO...yeah you are gonna miss out on great shows if you don't but you have the OPTION to not have it.

Most games now you can't even get access to the full game without paying extra for XBL...how is that fair by any stretch of the imagination? :why:

PSN is fine the way it is...

New PSN will include cross game chat (already free on Vita)
You can still talk to friends in game and play online.
Dedicated servers already existed on (at least Sony Games) anyway
Publishers will retain control of their own servers so I don't know how they can force dedicated servers on other publishers.

There was rumors of some new Playstation World shyt dropping. Maybe we'll hear something about that.

But the Gaikai streaming is definitely premium.
The sharing shyt and jumping in friends game, specatator mode is more than likely premium too.

Hopefully we'll hear something something.

I'm not even worried about PSN on the PS4. The reason the PS3's online infrastructure isn't on par with the 360 is because they didn't design the system with Online as a big priority as it should've been. Splitting up the RAM in the PS3 was a huge issue. It's obvious that Sony has learned their lesson & the hardware limitations that held back the PS3's online service have been fixed on both the PS Vita & the PS4.

I'm more interested in what Sony is doing to match up as an entertainment device. Sony is a co-developer & co-manufacturer of "Google TV" and uses it in some of their Blu-ray players, Smart TVs, & Internet TV players. I've speculated for a while, that Sony might integrate "Google TV" & "Google Play - Featured for TV store" into the PS4. If that was to happen "HBO GO" would be available on the PS4, XBone's big advantage of having "Skype" integration would be negated because "Google+ Hangouts" would be available on the PS4, The PS4 would be able to match Windows 8 Apps store integration in the Xbone with the "Google Play - Featured for TV store", and etc.

i dont get the hype for all the extra online shyt, just play w/e game u play online, send messages to friends, and use the online store it to d/l demos and other games. what else do u need?

it just seems to ridiculous to pay for online, over the course of having an xbox your really paying for like 10 xbox's :pachaha:
