So what's the story behind Anderson Paak "might be", and that other dude on the radio?

I think buddy on the radio might have bought the song from Paak but didn't get exclusive rights. I really don't know tho. That's the only thing I can think of.

But who wrote it?

And are they both cool about having the same damn song?

And what's the new dudes name anyway?

It is Paaks song originally so I'm sure he wrote it. Dudes name is Luke Nasty and he has an interview with DJ Smalls and he shouted out Paak making it seem like he brought the song fin him. Some type of deal was definitely done, I just don't know the specifics

I brought this up in the Anderson .Paak thread for his album. Tbh, I think Luke Nasty's version is simpler and a little more radio friendly, it's also mixed/mastered better. Luke Nasty probably bought it from him, it happens.

Luke Nasty - Might Be is also currently 85 on the Hot 100 so I'm sure he's cleared up any loose ends that'd prevent him from capitalizing off this song.

AP's is waaaaaay better.

Damn, I thought I was a Luke nasty fan after this song. Told myself I would be checking for him.(if I ever figured out his name)

But all along it was Anderson Paak I should have been listening to:ohhh:

This all makes sense, i still haven't made it fully thru that Anderson paak album, but I kept hearing "might be" - the luke nasty version, and of course i slap it because the exscape sample, but something was off. Song is better coming from a "singer" vs making it seem like a rap song, lyrics were lacking, BUT I agree the luke version is mixed better and presented in a more radio friendly way.

I'm not feeling this wave of people buying tracks from other artists that have been released commercially (i used to hate when a song would drop around the same time as another with the same beat), maybe a vault or even mixtape track, but these songs are on retail releases, wtf. Is dude just gonna buy all his hits or does he have a particular talent? Or is he really a DJ getting other artists to cover songs?

Idk if I mind the buying of songs too much. I don't think I would have heard it otherwise had I not heard DJ Luke Nasty on the radio. Btw you made a thread recently about guilty pleasure songs, what was the song by the Oakland chick you posted, I swear that's been stuck in my head and I can't figure out who it is.

I think it's a great sample flip by the producer.
