Failing to find somebody to play across from Steve Smith, and then letting him go for nothing.

I actually agree with you on this. Overall I feel our franchise failed our OG. From the QBs he had throwing to him, to him not having any complimentary players with him, to the way Gettlemen handled his departure.

The handling of the greg hardy debacle.
Failing to secure a proven offensive tackle, or investing with a top pick.

:comeon: we were going to play that man, til Goodell and the League forced our hand.

Letting munnerlyn go for nothing.
They needed a cornerback this offseason

We addressed this in the draft.

That's just in the last year or so... But I like Gettleman... I think he makes sound draft choices, addresses needs, and I think he's going to right the ship. The defense is very good, the offense got another weapon in Funchess (people seem to either love or hate him)

The biggest problem was letting their O-line fall into disrepair over the last 3 years. I watched the giants do the same thing around Eli. Negligence, basically.

I see your point, but sacrifices had to be made. And I honestly feel that Gettlemen neglected the OLine and focused on D because he knew Cam was an athletic QB that could compensate for a weak OLine with his legs. I personally do not agree with it but it is what it is at this point.

I'm not sure here, are you saying Gettleman is fukking up, or the organization? If you want to say the organization, yeah, they've been fukking up

I was originally talking about the organization preceding gettleman... but i brought some more recent issues up just as an examples, too.

I'm with Gettleman. I hope he puts a good team around Cam.

Two things:

- Just how can they make the Panthers/The City of Charlotte attractive to free agents? have they ever had a big name Free Agent ever come there?

Start winning. Only time they went after big name free agents were the early days, if you consider Kevin Greene or Sean Gilbert big names. You could say Keyshawn too, but he was washed by that point in his career.

What the fukk does Charlotte have to offer?

Nice place to raise a family. :yeshrug:

- Devin Funchess? :scust: That nikka really makes you wonder what value does wearing #1 at Michigan mean anymore.

They liked him enough to have a first round grade on him. Said he impressed them enough to where they think he can play all three receiver positions. We'll see how he pans out. Just hope he doesn't turn into another Dwayne Jarrett.

Carolina hasn't exactly been a :snoop: franchise when it comes to W-L

in the last 10 years
- 3 10+ win seasons
- 3 division titles

they've hovered around .500 in most other seasons.

I just don't understand what it is about the Carolina organization that's made it so inept at acquiring free agents.

They want to build through the draft. Jerry Richardson wanted to model the franchise after the Steelers, who also rarely go after big name free agents.

The Panthers made a significant investment in quarterback Cam Newton when they signed their 2011 first-round draft choice to a five-year contract extension through 2020 on Tuesday. Newton has posted some impressive statistics in his first four seasons with the team.

• First player in NFL history to have 10,000 passing yards and 2,000 rushing yards in first four seasons.

• Only player in NFL history to have at least 3,000 passing yards and 500 rushing yards in four consecutive seasons.

• Recorded the third most career touchdowns by a quarterback in first four NFL seasons with 115. Only Hall of Famer Dan Marino (144) and future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning (118) had more.

• Ranks second in team history with 1,144 completions, 1,923 pass attempts, 14,426 passing yards and a 59.49 completion percentage and first with a 2.81 interception percentage.

• Tied for second in team history with eight 300-yard passing games and stands third with 82 touchdown passes.

• Ranks first in team history with an average of 5.51 yards per rushing attempt and second with 33 rushing touchdowns (only three running backs have more rushing touchdowns than Newton since he entered the NFL in 2011).

• Has four career games with at least 200 passing yards, multiple touchdown passes, 80 rushing yards and a touchdown run – the most such games in NFL history.

• Has directed eight career game-winning drives (defined as a drive that puts the team ahead for good in the fourth quarter or overtime).

• Has compiled a 14-4 regular season after November since 2011. Only New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has more wins during that period.

• Led the Panthers to consecutive NFC South championships in 2013 and 2014, becoming the first team in NFC South history to win consecutive division championships since realignment in 2002.

• Moved into second place in team history in 2014 for the most starts by a quarterback with 62, behind Jake Delhomme’s 90 from 2003-09.

• Produced career highs of 24 touchdowns passes, 88.8 quarterback rating and 61.73 completion percentage in 2013, the second-highest completion percentage in team history behind Steve Beuerlein's record 62.97 in 1998.

• Set a team record for the most consecutive pass attempts without an interception with 176 in 2012.

• Set a team record with a 7.98-yard average passing gain and tied the team record for the lowest interception percentage of 2.47 percent in 2012.

• Earned the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2011, when he set a then NFL rookie record for passing yards with 4,051 and an NFL record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback with 14.

• Selected to the Pro Bowl in 2011 and 2013.

pretty much the best Carolina QB in history, they had to pay him
