I can see not a lot of people on this site that don't know shyt about Battling, I'm not talking battling in a cipher, but on the Global scale of Hip Hop, From the underground, mediterrian ground, mainstream, to Commercial. A potential clash of emcees Wasalu The God vs King Kunta, The labyrinth Complex Lyrical Wizard vs The Poetical Sharp Sword carrying Storyteller.

The majority on this site think because Lupe is lyrically that he can defeat Kendrick in a battle on a national stage.

I think not, because in hip hop battling isn't just about lyrics. And that's all Lupe got is complex rhymes.

Let's talk about the many aspects of battling from the Great Kool Moe Dee, one of the greatest Emcee and battle Emcee in history.

..I would take a person and break down their weaknesses and put it in rhyme form and a lot of Emcees dont know - there is a humor element to battle , an insult element , a truth element , and you can even add a spiritual , or Afrocentric element like KRS does . When you put those all together it makes you multidimensional , and a lot of Emcees think that its just sayin the hottest shyt to make the crowd react , when there is so much more.

That's why I Think Kendrick will crush Lupe, Lupe just got complex word play, in a battle Kendrick not only got lyrics, he going to bring up Lupe failures as an Recording artist, his insecurities of being recognized as a Great Emcee, his little man syndrome, just so much shyt to hit him with on a track, from using the insult, truth, spiritual element, his accolades ECT.

Remember The Pen (Kendrick writing game) is mighter than the sword (Lupe Word play)

Kendrick would crush Lu in a battle

I think in a fight lupe might beat him. He’s a 3rd degree black belt from the chi and practices with swords. Kendrick just a lil nikka from Compton. If guns were involved I’d put it on lupe. Them nerdy nikkas get down.

The fight would be viseral to say the least.

I think that at this point it’s better that they battle and see who can one up the other.

Kendrick himself has said that Rap is a contact sport. He’s called himself The Greatest Rapper Alive. That means that any CREDIBLE MC can challenge him.

Lupe is coming off as a paranoid hater. But he’s still a CREDIBLE MC. And hes thrown the gauntlet at K.Dot by accusing him of one of the two worst offenses an MC can be accused of (Biting) and saying that’s hes not a top tier lyricist.

K.Dot warned that all one had to do was say his name and you’ll see “Candy Man”.

So now it’s time to lace em up and hit the studio. I wanna see a K.Dot Vs. Lupe battle for the culture...

I feel Kendrick is about to go in the studio and bomb first, and he going to hit hard and no matter what Lu do after it's not going to even matter much

I never personally heard any glaring aggressive bars from Lupe that would make me believe he could “destroy” anyone in a modern rap battle where people will only react over controversy and clowning :yeshrug:

Truth in a battle you better have aggression, a Lu never spit aggressive bars

I think Lupe is the superior lyricist on wax but it would be a close and entertaining back and forth. Both don't really have great battle rap Pedigrees though, but Kendrick's style may lend it self to battling better though.

That's what I'm Saying in battling Lupe got so many bytch tendencies and failures, I real Emcee going to lay it out there and beat him down, like what Nas did to Jay-Z, Too Short did to MC Pooh

I think the Drake/Meek beef changed my view on battles forever. Going in, as a hip hop fan, I thought it was obvious that Meek was the better rapper. I figured the casual+media wings of music/rap would side with Drake, and the streets/"real rap" fans would side with Meek. IE I didn't think either side would truly win enough for it not to be a stalemate....but personally I figured I would prefer Meek.

What happened instead was that Drake surprised everyone with a perfect diss record. Not saying the song is amazing, but as a diss? That shyt was perfect. Perfect beat. The perfect lines. That's really all you need for the clowning to begin on social media. Meek was embarrassed, no one remembers his diss response, etc.

Lupe is a better "rap lyricist" than Kendrick. They're basically in similar boats as rappers. It would come down to the beat and lines.

Beat: I'm gonna give this to Kendrick since he's the bigger rapper, has a better ear for production, and is more in tune with the sound.

Lines: Toss up. I think Lupe would over think things and end up lost with shyt only his fans appreciate, whereas Kendrick would just hit him with some simple but effective lines. BUT Lupe would no doubt have the ability to do it right if he didn't over think. It's a battle, no rocket science.
