Soccer heads what went wrong with Freddy Adu?

He was older than everyone thought and in turn didn't make him as special of a talent as people thought.
How old is he in reality lol?
When I was in college I worked with a few guys from Ghana who knew about Adu and told me he was at least 3 to 4 years older than he was listed. At 14, he looks amazing but at 17 he just looks pretty good.

He didn’t have the athletic ability to separate from his markers. That was his biggest failing. I am happy he got a bag tho.

At youth level, if you're a good athlete and have a solid technique, you can look amazing. But once you play against grown men, those athletic advantages you had over your peers, don't look the same vs adults, unless you've been blessed by the gods.
