Recent reports from The Economist confirm soccer is now America's third-most popular sport with 10% of fans naming it their favorite, edging out baseball at 9%. American football leads at 36%, basketball at 17%.

I thought y’all said dynasties were good for the sport. :sas2:

this says nothing about how they came to that conclusion. :what:

MLS could never do what Dodgers/Blue Jays just did

Soccer has reached a new benchmark in the United States. Per The Economist, 10 percent of Americans now identify soccer as their favorite sport, edging it narrowly ahead of baseball, long considered the country's pastime. Only American football and basketball rank higher in overall popularity.

American football remains the most popular sport in the United States, with close to 40 percent of the population naming it as their favorite, while basketball ranks second at around 20 percent. Below soccer in the popularity rankings are baseball, hockey, MMA, and several other sports.

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world.

If this is true, the takeaway has less to do with baseball and more to do with America finally coming around and catching up to the rest of the planet.

Also, the immigrant population has been steady rising. The world and its perspectives are coming to the U.S.
Baseball is my favorite sport but I understand it being an acquired taste. It can be slow, the players are more high skill than athletic and there are a lot of rules, plus it is the most unique sport. I don't mind it not being the most popular as long as it retains the popularity to remain viable.

One of my favorite things about baseball is despite how long the game has been around, there's always a chance on any given night you'll see something that's never been done before.

Not surprising to me…the premier league feels more accessible than MLB. I mean fox had playoff baseball hidden away on fs2

Meanwhile, you can watch English futbol on NBC/USA every weekend

Even beyond immigrants younger white women love soccer... soccer stadiums for women teams have been sprouting up around the nation lately
