Life is honestly too short to be having this argument with them. What do you lose by just calling them whatever and going along with your day?

As research is carried out, we are better able to understand the biological causes.

I agree that expectations need to be managed. We live in a world of strangers and opportunists, which creates mistrust. There is also a need for efficiency which will be lost when you move away from consistent definitions in certain fields.

What I cannot agree with is being antagonistic and avoiding simple gestures that will remove some of the struggle in people's day to day lives.
