This is hip-hop but since it's of a personal nature I might not be suited for the booth, you mods can move it as you see fit :tu:

Recently dropped from my label (or did I drop the label?) . . over my excessive partying on weekends, ending up meeting my producer/CEO on a Monday and I was all out of tune on some :yeshrug: . . well to put it short, have you seen some of my scattered brain posts on here? It's like I was responding to the things he said on a 1 second delay when I'm known to be sharp and productive with my conversation. If I wanted to write a Earl Sweatshirt record that would come natural to me but I've done my best to keep that side of me in check when it comes to my songwriting.

Anyway, I didn't get dropped . . persay, but it looks like I've gotten shelved indefinitely :upsetfavre:

This is deeply rooted independent label, structured similarly to Rostrum or TDE, they've recently secured their distribution deal with Fontana (off the strength of my single)

This is a clean-cut, non-threatening variety of hip-hop music that we're peddling here. So when I came in on some Lil Wayne ish these people were spooked, especially the producer who's the CEO/financers (by "producer" I mean financer who's taking production credit for the records he's buying the rights to . . on some Dr. Dre ish without the engineering skills)

All of the sudden my calls were going unanswered, plans for photoshoots got dropped, etc.

Here's the thing though, they've got the sessions files for of the work I've done with them and thus my single that secure them their deal in the first place. I'm wondering if I should quickly get to recreating that song in another studio with another producer or if I should just let it be.

Yes . . I got juxed :aicmon:

Ya . . that's why I'm able to effectively communicate the events that transpired in my life :aicmon:

You make a thread about cutthroat living and then bring up the mainstream industry artists :beli:

For me, its been alot of promises and nothing to show for until the last two months when i decided it was time to push myself and my brand of music. You have no friends, only people who can move you further and people you can move further, once you accept that, you can be on your way. I started in 2005 and just now, im over 30 mind you, am i starting to get somewhere.

For me its hard to just talk about everything thats happened because that involves airing out people whom i still respect on a personal level. The bottom line is, is you havent been fukked in this industry at least once, you havent learned anything.

What area of the Bay are you in and are you performing actively?

I've got shows you can get on in Fairfax, downtown Oakland

^^ these two include ticket sales and slots ( . . I've learned to not bust my back doing these . . I show up last minute and smile at their intern like :smugbiden: . . sometimes I get turned away but at least I didn't get pimped by some promo company :myman:)

I've also got some events in Oakland/San Leandro that are easy to get on if you're interested. No hoops to jump through. There's also some spots in SF with a more kosher variety of hip-hop audience but at least the people their are more open to spending money rather than posturing, playing business, "keeping people at Bay" . . so to speak :mjpls:

With that said, I'm not suppose to be performing :wtb:
