My girl is buying one one for my bday, only videogame I've played like last two yesrs is NCAA and college hoops. on the ps3

I know ps4 ainr backwards compatible

Ive been in the dark, don't know anything about Xbox one or ps4, haven't played.

Only really into sports games and the odd action.

Is PSN still free? Is Xbox one free for online?

Everybody has a PS4 on here. If you're looking to play with coli brehs, the PS4 is the way to go. That being said, if all your real life friends play on Xbox, then get the X1.

dont know when your birthday is but E3 is in a few days where they'll be talking about the present and future of their respective consoles so I'd keep an eye out and decide after that. Neither are free online btw

PSN technically is. Multiplayer you gotta pay for, but I think it's cheaper than Xbox's yearly subscription. But if you don't care about playing online all that much, a 1-month is $10.

You can also get a free 30-day trial as well through IGN's Powers promotion (but you have to have never had PS Plus on the account).

I personally love my X1. I got my tv hooked up into it, and control my cable, sound system, Netflix, YouTube, and of course gaming with the controller (or my iPhone).

Nah, it's like $60 a year or something. It's not that bad. Plus, you get like 2-3 free games every month

If you're a casual, and it's pretty clear the op is (no disrespect) then I can't think of any reason why he wouldn't save himself a 100 bucks and get an XBone. All the advantages of the PS4 are lost on casuals.
