People went hard at young thug and ASAP Rocky and shytted on them for not speaking up on issues, and now a rapper who a lot of people assumed was on that :mjpls: decides to make his stance clear and buddens/thecoli hates that too? What should rappers do?

Revival has a lot of problems don't get me wrong :whoa: but those are with how it SOUNDS (bars, beats, features), not him being "woke"

whats going on?

the freestyle was a nice gesture, altho the visuals were uncomfortable.

he should've stopped there. but now, this is your 1st single b?

at this point, its just a combination of pandering, promotion & cultural re-appropriation.

The fundamental problem with Eminiem (besides his terrible lyrics) in 2017, is this: Eminem is a white guy who got famous calling celebrities fakkits and rapping about wanting to murder women he hated.

Basically he was popular because he didn’t give a fukk and said whatever he wanted, no matter how heinous and borderline criminal, and that tapped into the collective unconscious of aggro middle class white Americans.

So it takes a lot of hypocritical nerve, or just pure shortsighted blindness, to think people are going to listen when he criticizes a politician who got elected using the exact same tactics.

I don't think most people have an issue with any of his messages.

Musically, the new album sucks.

It's not enjoyable to listen to. Not in headphones, in a car, by yourself, or with friends.

Some people (not saying you) get on this thing about "Why do people sleep on lyrics and only care about the beat?"

Well, if the music doesn't sound right, then no one wants to hear the words. Not only did Em fukk up with the production choices he made, but on top of that, his voice and delivery is simply not enjoyable or easy on the ears on this new project.

It's got little to nothing to do with his message.

In fact, a cynical person might say that the message re: Trump, the state of the nation, and what not is an easy way to improve the bottom line. I'm not in that camp, but those people are out there.

it's pandering cause Em even admits he wanted trump to respond...bullshyt ass motive...doesn't completely seem sincere.
If Trump responded then Eminem was going to release Like Home (the joint with Alicia Keys on it) as the second single.

100% without a doubt.

I don't think even the biggest Eminem fans would argue that.
