This is a reminder of the Black church's political, historical, and cultural significance.
Before anybody says it, I'm not talking about religion. I'm talking about the fact that the Black church is where our elders planned protests, political actions, and other strategies. The Black Civil Rights movement was coordinated in the Black church. The Black church is where the Montgomery bus boycott was called.
The teaching of our history is the 21st century continuation of those events. This is a political counter to DeSantis's attack on Black history & culture.
