Alright, so just to clarify I like pretty much all rap music. I listen to it all from Wu-Tang, Ghostface, Dre, Nas, Outkast, DMX, Biggie, 2Pac, Em, down to ignorant stuff like Shawty Lo. I like old No Limit/Cash Money up to French, Drake, J. Cole, Wale, Big Sean etc. I even like some of the newer underground guys like Logic. I'm leaving a lot out obviously, but you get the point..... I've been buying rap albums since MC Hammer and Fresh Prince.

BUT, I'm not getting this Kendrick Lamar hype. I think he's tremendously skilled in terms of rhyme schemes, patterns....BUT his music is just boring to me....his monotone delivery. Nothing jumps out at me. I tried to listen to it in a more low key, calm setting so I can get into better and still dont like it. I think he's creative in the way he tells his stories and it's clearly different from typical rap.

What am I missing? :ld:

I'm almost feel like it's just the popular thing to do. I've talked to people I know who dont even really fool with rap music but they're like, "oh yeah, I love that Kendrick Lamar album" I'm just like :upsetfavre: Really, all the good rap music out there that's good and you dont like anything but this(critically acclaimed) album?

So I ask.....what's a great song of his I have missed or need to re-listen to? What's some background info on the song? I'll give it one more shot

I really dont get how you feel you have to like his music. If you dont like it there's tons of other great music out there. It just means its not for you.

Well I don't feel like I HAVE to like it.

But since I like damn near everything else, I just wondering why I"m not liking it.

It's not like it's Soulja Boy or something. LOL

Just wanna give it a fair shot before I dismiss it completely.

As for GKMC i liked it as a whole project, but not any of it as individual songs... and I cant just listen to that whole joint like that... maybe if it was 20 mins like Enemy of the State with no track breaks...

Breh it's the same for me, I listened to GKMC like 10 times wondering what was it others were seeing that I wasn't...but never got into that album.

Section 80 on the other hand was tight, Hiipower is one of my favorites joints in the last couple of years.:manny:
