That nikka use to love her but she would only pick dudes that would play her until Steve came around and let her know her worth .... I can't blame Laura at all. Steve wasn't her type. He got the same simp energy a lot of cats got, which is when a female tells you 'no', she just did you a horrible disservice and you need to 'get back at her' or you can turn that no to a yes by persistence. When a woman tells you no, it means it's time to go. There's a lot of other females that are feeling your flavor, which is what Myra was in that 'universe', who not only was fine, but was feeling Steve for his natural character. That wouldn't have made for great tv if Steve rode out with Myra, but that's the solution in real life.
