I'm sure this thread won't get the responses I am hoping for.

I'm looking for someone to breakdown the history of this whole shyt & where it went wrong. There's not really much information on Domino out there.

I'm just putting this together based on the little information I have.

Domino & Snoop are very familiar with each other being in the same age range & where 2 of the better Long Beach rappers at that time. Kurupt said he first met Snoop at the Roxy on Sunset. He said Snoop was there to support Domino, who ended up winning the talent showcase that day.

I just don't understand how the tension between Snoop/Nate & Domino started. These knew nyggas all knew each other from the mid 80s. :mjlol:If these nyggas where all hanging out, all from the same area, etc I'm sure there's gonna be some type of influence. I'm just wondering if the shyt was deeper than rap.

I guess they felt Domino stole their style, but Domino's style wasn't really any different on that first "Bangin on Wax" album. He was the standout talent by far on that album by the way.

I have heard that back in the day when Snoop would perform Doggy Doggy World live, he would be "It's like everywhere I look, and everywhere I go, I'm hearing nyggas like Domino trying to steal my flow."

Warren G in his podcast with Combat Jack talked about Nate Dogg (of course, seemed like Nate had no problem getting at anybody) wanting to get at Domino about stealing their style despite being outnumbered. Warren said Domino was DEEEP, but the situation was calmed down by Fat Joe who was holding Warren & his team down.

Just found Domino speak a little on Snoop & Kurupt from this old dubcnn interview. These nyggas where cool at one point. Obviously when this interview was done, whatever situation they had was over.

dubcnn.com: So you wanna tell the story about Kurupt and Snoop again how they hooked up back in the day?

Domino: Yea I used to have a group called perfection and basically we was the muthafukkaz out the beach that kinda floated throughout all the showcases and management thats poppin shyt now. We had umm this particular asscount showcase which was located at the rocks theatre anyway after the shyt is
over we outside chillin and muthafukka walked up to me talkin bout he wanna freestyle.
He wanna battle me I aint no battler I can let you know, I dont do that shyt but when it comes to paper im the tightest muthafukka in the town with the pen.
So my nikka snoop was the hottest muthafukka that I had ever knew.
So I let the dogg loose he started gettin on his ass real early like right at the dribble but Kurupt came and spit some shyt that shut the crowd down.
You gotto let that be known man this shyt was like big! Two muthafukkaz in their caliber. They went on for like 12 rounds. The crowd was like it's a draw and thats the first time I ever heared the crowd was like its a draw because theres always a winner and a looser in the streets. But they said this shyt was a draw and thats the begining to that Kurupt and Snoop shyt hottest muthafukkaz
on the west.

dubcnn.com: So that was back in 89 right?

Domino: Yea that was like 89.

dubcnn.com: Did Snoop contact you two years ago about possibly hookin up?

Domino: yea snoop left me a message him and Cat (Dj Battlecat) talkin about lets do this shyt how we was doin it back in 87 and umm shyt I called em but that nikka was busy or we woulda chopped it up, I was tryna get put the spot cuz we were suppose to slow that shyt up with that reinventing the game, that shyt went on for so many weeks you know the boy got shyt he had to do gotto respect the game.
He got things and I got things so I didnt cross paths with him.

I think it was something to do with the sing-song flow that both used but Domino said Snoop stole that style from him
Domino was first so he is gonna say it was his n Snoop came later so he is gonna say it was his. The both had different styles. Snoop rapped and domino just kinda does the devin the dude chorus. If anyone mad Nate probably didn’t like domino

It's also worth bearing in mind, Domino's "Getto Jam" has EXACTLY the same flow as Snoop's verse on "Stranded on Death Row"

Domino clearly bit Snoop's flow on that

Appreciate you upping this thread. I damn near forgot that I made it. As I said in the original post, I didn’t expect many responses.

It appears the only ones who can really break it down are Snoop and Domino.
