I'm sure this thread won't get the responses I am hoping for.
I'm looking for someone to breakdown the history of this whole shyt & where it went wrong. There's not really much information on Domino out there.
I'm just putting this together based on the little information I have.
Domino & Snoop are very familiar with each other being in the same age range & where 2 of the better Long Beach rappers at that time. Kurupt said he first met Snoop at the Roxy on Sunset. He said Snoop was there to support Domino, who ended up winning the talent showcase that day.
I just don't understand how the tension between Snoop/Nate & Domino started. These knew nyggas all knew each other from the mid 80s.
If these nyggas where all hanging out, all from the same area, etc I'm sure there's gonna be some type of influence. I'm just wondering if the shyt was deeper than rap.
I guess they felt Domino stole their style, but Domino's style wasn't really any different on that first "Bangin on Wax" album. He was the standout talent by far on that album by the way.
I have heard that back in the day when Snoop would perform Doggy Doggy World live, he would be "It's like everywhere I look, and everywhere I go, I'm hearing nyggas like Domino trying to steal my flow."
Warren G in his podcast with Combat Jack talked about Nate Dogg (of course, seemed like Nate had no problem getting at anybody) wanting to get at Domino about stealing their style despite being outnumbered. Warren said Domino was DEEEP, but the situation was calmed down by Fat Joe who was holding Warren & his team down.
