:childplease: this is not a hit song, not now and not back then.

I think what hes saying is that if we still had the same outlets that we did in the '90s, this could possibly be a rap city hit for this era. just like half of the old rap videos that people reminisce about on here. and if the label worked it right, they could move some type of units.

as opposed to now where all singles are geared towards kids and bird-brains.

This shyt is fukking hot...

But yea, them days are gone breh. Kids nowadays dont like the kinda shyt we liked. If Chris dropped this back in 2004...it would've blazed radio. Atleast on the East coast.

Young CHRIS - "PHILLY" (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) - YouTube

the kids liked this song actually.

the problem is that there was just small money behind it and no outlets to compensate for the lack of big money.

tastes didn't change. the industry changed. kids that are actually into rap aren't much different than kids from my era, or kids from prior eras that were actually into rap.

and really, the kids that digest most of the radio trash are usually the kids that aren't really into rap like that and just like whatever comes on the radio. the same with the kids from my era that didn't care about rap, but sung along with whatever garbage was put on the airwaves because it was the thing to do.
