we're in the middle of a gen that has seen little to no price drops, a rather pricey PS5 Pro, and the 8 y/o Switxch getting a price increase. and a lot of this was before Trump's crazy tariff shyt. next gen gonna be expensive
This all depends on how bad inflation gets by the time it releases. Stop bringing the ps3 shyt that was 20 years ago no one from that era is still around and since then people are now paying for online and games are going to PC and other platforms. There’s new people in the driver seat and more suits involved. So I’m not going to be surprised if the launch it at 699. 599 would be the lowest I can se them going. The ps6 will flop at that price. When I say flop, I am saying not selling to the mass market. That would sell to early adopters and enthusiasts. Beyond that, the sales would be abysmal. Anything above $500 without an attachable disc drive will be above the cutoff price of the mass market. Yes the ps6 would sell at $700 but not at the same rate as the ps5, not even close. Sony wants to sell as many consoles as quickly as possible to maximize profits. That has been their strategy for generations, with the ps3 being a disaster and quickly going back to their strategy of selling to the mass market with the ps4 after that generation. $600 without a disc drive would be a disaster. $600 with a disc drive would be a gamble, and would be about the same or worse sales rate as the ps3 at $600 until there is a price drop. Now with cross gen, that could be worse since a good amount of people would play the cross gen game on their ps5s or buy the cheaper new or used ps5 to play the cross gen games. Rumors also suggest Sony is targeting a price of $500, and I assume this is without a disc drive.
Wages are not getting any better and are not keeping pace with inflation. So $700 would still be above the cutoff price. This all depends on how bad inflation gets by the time it releases.
The ps3 at $600 situation is relevant to the discussion despite occurring almost 20 years ago. That's a terrible argument. Your arguments in general have been terrible.
All because they can use that as a talking point in a console war argument. This speculation of the ps6 being $700 is because of the ps5 pro.Lets put your coil account on the line that the ps6 will have a launch at 699?The ps3 at $600 situation is relevant to the discussion despite occurring almost 20 years ago. Not only that, Sony themselves still bring that up despite occurring almost 20 years ago because they were affected that badly. Sony still bringing that up after all these years suggests Sony does not want to repeat that disaster that's why they have concentrated on affordability and reasonable specs since then. This speculation of the ps6 price being very expensive is the same speculation that occurred before the announcement of the ps5 price. Many assumed beyond $600 or above because of the SSD and people were saying no way the ps5 would be below $600 or $700. Yet the ps5 was able to release at $400 and $500. The plan is always appealing to mass market. That's not going to change now.
The ps6 also, even with no competition, needs to sell well quickly so the exclusives that are exclusive to the ps6 sell well and maximize profits of services as well as accessories, microtransactions, etc. associated with those exclusive games. As I already posted, the ps5 pro is only 2% higher to produce than the ps5 and is $700 to sell at a profit. Were this a mass market device, the console wouldn't be close to $700. That's not difficult to understand. You just want to stay with this narrative so you can say you were right. People want the ps6 to be $700 so bad.All because they can use that as a talking point in a console war argument. This speculation of the ps6 being $700 is because of the ps5 pro.
Lets put your coil account on the line that the ps6 will have a launch at 699?

These nikkas are going to repeat themselves saying the ps6 will definitely be $700 with their terrible arguments. Sony has been releasing affordable consoles with reasonable specs since ps1 with the exception being the ps3 and the disaster of that console still bothers them to this day.The leaked PS6 specs suggest affordability
