Jay has been lazy plenty of times man. Throughout his career he has dud verses or just meh verses or meh albums. That's the nature of the beast when you been at it for so long, not everything is going to be heat. Which is why a lot of dudes here and IRL are iffy when it comes to liking dude now. You're on a hip hop board so I'm assuming you know enough about this shyt to be able to tell when someone drops a meh verse or when they're on point so you should know when Jay phones it in or doesn't come as dope as we all know he's capable of. When you're that dope, to me it's laziness because it's you not trying. Jay is so dope that if he drops a dud verse it's him not giving a fukk thus being lazy. He said it himself: He can drop a straight dud and it won't matter. He knows fans will buy it regardless so there are times when he just half asses the effort on the mic. That's not a knock on his work ethic as far as music output but it is a knock on his work ethic of always making sure he puts out dope verse
